Β #HSBC #CIFASmarker #creditcardissue
Hey everyone, I need some advice here! π
So, I applied for a credit card with HSBC, but it turned into a whole mess with them closing the account due to alleged impersonation. π€¦ββοΈ Here’s the kicker – it was actually me all along!
Here’s a quick rundown of my situation:
– Applied for HSBC credit card
– Card wouldn’t work online or in person
– Account was closed due to alleged impersonation
– Now facing a CIFAS marker on my name, even after showing ID
I’ve tried calling HSBC and visiting a branch, but no luck. π€·ββοΈ Does anyone have any insights or suggestions on how I can resolve this issue and clear my name? I would appreciate any input or advice you can offer.
Possible solutions that I’m considering include:
– Speaking with a manager at a branch for more assistance
– Contacting the Financial Ombudsman Service for help
Please share your thoughts or experiences if you’ve been in a similar situation. Let’s help each other out! π€#support #financialadvice
Raise a complaint. Even as a non customer they have to deal with the complaint.
Just for clarity, have you had a CIFAS marker for impersonation (IE they think you have been impersonating someone) which is a very bad thing, or have they applied for a protective registration marker as they think someone else tried to impersonate you? (Which might not be a bad thing)
Had this happen to me with my HSBC debit card which I used as a current account. Took weeks and two branch visits to resolve and I eventually got Β£50 compensation. Which in no way made up for the inconvenience. I switched to nationwide and have had no problems.
Send them a letter stating it was you who opened the account , and that you have proof that you have opened the account, on a letter recorded postage. The impersonation cifas marker is the wrong cifas marker to use as thatβs a cat 6 marker which a money mule would be given ( someone who has committed fraud intentionally) the cifas marker should just be a protection marker which you can remove by simply giving them a call. They will either remove the cifas marker or send you a final response letter. If they send you a final response letter contact the financial obodsman service and they will sort everything out for you. You can do a subject access request from cifas to see what marker they have put on there also.
