#WorkplaceChallenge: Got surprised with a “Needs Improvement” rating for my half-year review at work. 😕 Ever been in a situation where you feel like your hard work isn’t being recognized or appreciated? Here’s my story:
Started as an intern, worked my way up to a Software Engineer I position, but now hit with unexpected feedback from my team leader. Sounds familiar?
Here are some key points from my review:
– Minor slip-ups in code deployments 🤦♂️
– Miscommunication with client team for additional data fields 🤔
– Slow code review process due to scope creep and multiple solution changes 🐢
My team leader thinks I need to slow down and adopt a “production mindset.” 🤷♀️
I’m considering strategies like:
– Double-checking client readiness before starting a task 📝
– Getting seniors’ approval before code reviews to avoid scope creep ⏳
– Ensuring client team tests in their environment before pushing to Prod 🖥
Any advice on how to approach this situation? Should I discuss my concerns with my team leader or just make the changes and move forward? Your thoughts and experiences are welcome! Let’s support each other through workplace challenges. 💪
.. I would buff up my resume and start looking,,
And follow through on the plan.
They are expecting volume to pick up and quality to.
If they don’t get it,, they will fire you.
Three things will happen..
#1) your replacement is fantastic and hits home runs every day
#2) your replacement produces less volume, quality work.
#3) your replacement does the exact same output, quality as you did.
Either way they have expectations
Sounds like you know what you’re doing. But this performance review looks like they’re setting things up to get rid of you. It’s nitpicking, and falsehoods, and you know it is. The whole “we can get through this together” stuff is just condescending.
You’re working friday nights? do you get paid for that extra effort?
So i would start by polishing your linkedin, update your resume, and get some interviews.
