So, here’s the situation: about a month ago, I (F18) got let go from my job without any real reason. It was such a bummer because I genuinely loved my role and felt I was doing really well at it. 😔
I was working the front desk, connecting with customers and making their days brighter. One of the clients even told me how much they appreciated my upbeat personality! 🌟 I took pride in creating those connections. Sure, I made some mistakes along the way, but I was always open to feedback and aimed to improve.
Then, out of nowhere, I was called to the back on my way into a shift and told I was being let go. I was totally blindsided! I kept asking if it was something I did, but they insisted it was just a company decision.
At first, I thought it might have been a financial decision—being a part-time employee, I figured I was just the easiest one to let go. But then I saw a job posting for a full-time position that paid more than what I was earning part-time! 🤔
To top it all off, I discovered that the manager who fired me quit just a week later. That’s why she hasn’t replied to any of my follow-up emails. Ugh!
Honestly, it’s a lot to process. I’m frustrated because, despite the hiccups, I really enjoyed my job. I know there’s a bigger picture here that I might be missing, and I guess that’s just how the work world goes sometimes. But seriously—what a rough experience! 😩
Have you ever faced something similar? How did you handle it? Any tips for dealing with unexpected job loss? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Apply for the full time job
Would you like your job back?
If so, just contact them and ask. Chances are they are hard up with both you gone and once and would rather have you back than go through the bother of hiring.
Your old manager might have gone rogue and fired you for personal reasons, while hiding the impact of your firing for the rest of the company and gaslighing you in telling you that it was a company decision.
Your manager might have been forced to resign because of the damage they caused, with your firing being the final straw.
Apply for the full-time job, the manager that fired you isn’t there anymore, and the company realized that they needed your position. You’re the perfect candidate.
The bigger picture unfortunately is that some people are just assholes, nothing you can do about it. I had a leasing office agent remove my preferred employer discount on my rent during her two weeks.
I had changed jobs and she saw me walking home in a different uniform and asked about it, told her no longer worked there because the commute was killing me and was working somewhere closer and walking to work now. Didn’t think much of it and she was gone a week later, then when my rent was due it was $200 higher than usual and the discount was no longer there.
You’re already quitting why do you have to screw someone over for a corporation you no longer care about?
Same happened to me a new manager replaced my manager the new one fired me and 4 others the quit a week after that
