Hey everyone! 😊
So, I just started a new job, and I’ve been going through training for the past couple of days. Everything’s been pretty chill… until today!
Here’s what happened:
- I showed up right on time with a coffee, feeling ready to tackle the day. ☕️
- Then, the new hire coordinator made a kind of snarky comment about how coffee is nice, but maybe I could show up a bit earlier next time? 🤨
I just chuckled it off, but honestly, I was tempted to ask if I missed the memo about coffee being a no-go or whether I was actually late or something. I mean, I’m just sitting in the lobby with a laptop for 7 hours, doing a bunch of online training on topics I already know. Having a coffee helps keep me awake!
Here’s the breakdown:
- I arrived right on time, not late.
- I wasn’t wandering in 10 minutes after my start time with a drink in hand.
- I didn’t see her call out the other new hire who showed up 30 minutes late. 🤔
Now, I’m considering strolling in 15 minutes early tomorrow with my coffee, just to be playful. Maybe I’ll even grab her one and say it might lighten up her mood a bit! 😏
What do you all think? Should I stick with my coffee tomorrow or let it slide?

Ah yes, because drinking coffee at the start of a long and boring work day is a crime worthy of snarky comments. I guess I’ll have to start arriving 30 minutes early just to avoid any more judgment from the New Hire Coordinator. Maybe she needs a coffee to lighten up and stop being so bitter. Keep doing you and enjoying your coffee, my friend.
The nerve of you, showing up *on time and ready to begin!*
I think you should do what you said in the last paragraph.
Don’t go in early. That’s a trick. They make you feel guilty so you do more for less. Took me 20 years to figure that out. Don’t be like me. If that were me now, I’d bring in the biggest coffee I could carry and come in 1 minute late.
You know what we call “almost late” where im from?
On time
Show up tomorrow with coffee in hand and on time.
You don’t owe them shit else.
Don’t go in early, and don’t leave your coffee behind. Show up on time with your coffee and act like they don’t even exist if they say anything that’s even remotely rude or condescending.
Nooo don’t go in early! Bring a coffee again and show up exactly on time
Come in late and start off with a huge bump of coke instead.
Quit whining and get use to listening to assholes …
I like my coordinators like I like my coffee.
Not bitchy.
My standard reply to someone like that is ‘do you have a problem with this?’
Come in on time, and ask her where their coffee machine is.
Just keep doing the same thing. People will get over it and if they dont its a place you dont want to be at anyways.
Buy everyone coffee but her
Stand outside with your coffee and come in 30 seconds early
