HiringFail #JobSearchStruggles
Hey there! Have you ever felt like companies have their heads up their asses when it comes to hiring? I recently had a frustrating experience that might shed some light on this. Let me share my story with you.
The Rollercoaster of Job Interviews
I applied for both an Associate and Senior Associate role at a company, aced the screening call, discussed salary expectations, and had an amazing interview with the hiring manager. I was feeling great about my chances, only to receive an email saying the Senior role was no longer available, and I was overqualified for the Associate position. 🤯
Why Do Companies Do This?
It’s baffling when companies toss out great candidates for seemingly trivial reasons, leaving you scratching your head. In my case, I couldn’t help but wonder if my age played a role in their decision-making process.
Actionable Steps for Job Seekers
If you find yourself in a similar situation, here are some steps you can take:
- Seek Feedback: Don’t hesitate to ask for feedback on why you were not selected for a role. It can help you understand where you can improve.
- Keep Applying: Don’t let one setback discourage you. Keep applying to other positions that align with your skills and experience.
- Network: Reach out to your network for job opportunities and recommendations. Networking can often open doors that traditional applications can’t.
Final Thoughts
Remember, rejection is not a reflection of your worth. Keep honing your skills, refining your resume, and networking. The right opportunity will come along when the time is right. Stay positive and persistent in your job search journey!
Let’s navigate through these hiring challenges together and support each other along the way.🌟 #JobSearchCommunity
It sounds like either they had an internal hire already set up or they had no intention of hiring anyone (“ghost job”).
“Great” is a red flag. I’m sure you are great but coming out of a recruiter’s mouth it’s disingenuous and a sign that you may not advance in the hiring process. They straight up lie to candidates. Happens to me all the time. So done hearing compliments from people who don’t hire me.
Is it possible someone was just “greater”?
I’ve found this issue before. They advertise for a senior role, with more qualifications and skills, then pull the role and try to get the same people and skills for the cheaper junior role.
Asshole move, dont fall for it.
