Hey fellow founders! 👋
Let’s talk about the importance of data hygiene from day 0 in your startup. Seriously, it’s a game-changer! Here are a few reasons why:
– Eliminate those pesky spreadsheets and ban manual copy paste. It’s a time-saver and ensures accuracy. 🚫📊
– Having a robust data warehouse from the start pays off big time. Trust me, you won’t regret it. 💰
– The pain of not having good operational data is real. Make sure you’re making decisions based on reliable information. 🤔
So, what’s the solution? Consider investing in a solid data stack from the get-go. It might seem like a cost upfront, but the long-term benefits are enormous. Think of it as an investment in your business’s success. 💡
Share your thoughts on data hygiene and any tips you have for building a strong data infrastructure from day 0! Let’s help each other out. 🌟
Don’t think it’s necessary to invest in so much digital infrastructure from the get go. Excel sheets can be easily imported. It all depends on the service you’re delivering but I wouldn’t worry too much about SAAS solutions from day one.
There is a lot of room for pragmatism somewhere between spreadsheet db and a full blown data warehouse / etl pipeline
It is most certainly important to think about data quality from day one. I don’t think it is necessary to invest in a data warehouse, such as a star-schema or data vault, from day one. I would focus on “one version of the truth” in data, which can be the OLTP database for most startups for quite a while, and may ever be “Jim’s spreadsheet”.
I **do** think that robust 1-2-3 backups should be implemented as soon as there is anything important in a data store.
That’s a good piece of advice!
As a data engineer I can confirm that fixes in later stages requires more effort and money.
Clearly every case has its own characteristics, but trying to foresee some of the later stages and make small investments to ease the future upgrade when it comes to data infrastructures isn’t a bad idea
