#RecruiterRequest #ProspectiveEmployerLetter #JobOpportunity
Hey everyone! 👋 So, I need some advice on this situation I’m dealing with regarding a recruiter and a prospective employer. Here’s the deal:
– The recruiter, let’s call him HB, is pressuring me to write a letter to the company I might potentially work for.
– HB claims that this letter is necessary to show my commitment to the opportunity and to deter me from considering other job offers.
– I’ve never encountered this request before in my years of working with recruiters, so I’m a bit confused.
– The job isn’t my ideal role, but it might be a step up from my current position, which I’m eager to leave.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Should I go ahead and write this letter, or is it a red flag? 🚩 I’d appreciate any insights or advice you guys have to offer!
Possible Solution:
– Consider discussing your concerns with the recruiter and asking for clarification on why the letter is necessary.
– If you feel uncomfortable writing the letter, politely express your concerns and see how the recruiter responds.
– Ultimately, trust your instincts and make a decision that aligns with your career goals and values.

Is he locking in a spot for you? No. Chat got the letter and lie your ass off
The first thing you said about how he would stop the process if he found out you were applying elsewhere should’ve been where you immediately stop talking to him. I worked with multiple recruiters during my search that just landed me a new job and each one knew I was looking and applying elsewhere and they were all fine with it. Is this a recruiter internal to the company you applied for or are they an external 3rd party?
And to answer your question, I wouldn’t write a letter. I barely write cover letters and jobs that require them I almost entirely dismiss from my search. If a company needs a whole page about how great they are and how much you want to work for them, they’re likely extremely toxic.
This recruiter sounds desperate. Tell him to draft it, and you’ll make whatever changes you want and then send it back.
And if the company is dragging their feet then they aren’t hot to get someone on board.
Ghost this person.
Use AI to write a letter for you then? Just lipservice
This sounds janky to me.
I would continue with this to see where it goes. If it does not work out, I would block this recruiter and not deal with them in the future.
Just gpt that shit and don’t think twice
Nope. Dont play into a fools power trip.
If he cant deliver then id ask his supervisor to confirm his request is legit & how it makes you uncomfortable.
Still dont do it, but you reporting it might add up with others who reported his weird requirements
