Hey everyone! 👋 So, I recently had a pretty frustrating experience where the CEO of a company actually invited me for an interview not once, but TWICE, and ended up bailing on me both times. 😫 Has anyone else ever faced a similar situation? How did you handle it?
Here are a few thoughts I have on how to potentially navigate this type of situation:
– Communicate openly and professionally with the CEO about your concerns and the impact of their actions on your time and schedule. 🗣️
– Consider if this is a red flag for the company and their organizational culture. Is this behavior indicative of larger issues within the company? 🚩
– If possible, try to reschedule the interview or explore other opportunities within the company that may be a better fit for you. 🔄
What do you all think? Any other suggestions or advice for how to handle a situation like this? Let’s help each other out! 💡 #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment
I honestly don’t know whether I should still respond. I don’t want to burn bridges, but I also don’t want to let him think that what he did was OK.
238 applications, 10 multiple-round interviews, four months into job hunting. Every interview invite I get, I diligently research what the company does, review my CV, clear my schedule, list insightful questions, mentally psyche myself up before the call, and ensure I’m at least 10 minutes early. It takes time and massive effort to prepare for these things while I grapple with the anxiety and depression that come with the limbo of joblessness and job hunting.
I’m enraged at how much employers and recruiters could get away with carelessly wasting candidates’ time; how entitled they are to disrespect jobseekers like peasants.
When does it get better?
When they bail on you twice they must offer you the job. That’s the law. Let them know.
He sounds ok. No red flags in the way he responds tbh so I would give it another shot.
Cut them some slack, the 2nd appointment wasn’t in their calendar (even though it was them who suggested it, I know, but still)
give it another chance. ceos are not good at managing their calendars, but it doesn’t make it a bad place to work or a bad opportunity.
this is not uncommon with execs.
LPT: all interviews take place during business hours
Had this happen a couple years ago. Scheduled two meetings with the CEO who no showed both times. I have a 15 minute rule for these things and will leave after that. Both times the CEO sent me a message within 10 minutes of me leaving saying they were putting out fires as the reason for missing our call. After the second it was the same response you got, “I’m down to reschedule but I also understand if you want to bow out at this point.”
This was 2021 I believe so I just didn’t even respond. If it were today I might give them one more chance but that would be it. Depends on how desperate I am for a new job and if I’m really that interested in working for their company. The sad thing is if they pinged me before the meeting about the issue I’d likely be way more forgiving because it at least shows me they were aware of our meeting enough to tell me it would start late or need to be rescheduled.
No, fuck this. You’re not even working for this person and they’re already fucking you around. Do you really think it’s going to be any better after you start the job?
Nah, he doesn’t respect you. Probably a test to see if you’re desperate enough.
But then again, what else are you going to do? Shit, maybe schedule and no show on his ass?
