#VacationRequest #Olympics #WorkConflict
So, I put in my vacation request in MAY. My store manager has yet to approve it. He’s squawking because I will be gone for 2 weeks. 🙄
I know my vacation overlaps with our bookkeeper and another person retiring, but it’s the Olympics! I don’t control when the Olympics are!
Here are the facts:
– My schedule doesn’t overlap with the bookkeeper at all.
– I’m one of the first people my manager calls when she needs coverage.
– I have my plane tickets bought since MAY.
Possible solution:
– Consider talking to the district manager to address the issue with the store manager’s lack of understanding and communication.
– Emphasize your flexibility and willingness to help cover shifts when needed.

PTO = Prepare the Others
Next time word it differently. You don’t put in vacation requests, you inform them when you’ll be going on vacation. Approvals are paperwork, not vital components.
You’ve bought the tickets, so you’re not going to be there for those two weeks. It’s up to them to deal with that.
Just quit or let them fire you. It’s always the good workers who get punished this way
Do it go to the next three levels in the span of 30 minutes. Prepare to leave on vacation and do not look back. send the manager a post card.
When you get back ask him if he got the Post Card?
Enjoy your Vacation
My vacation “requests” are a notice. I’m going to be gone whether it’s approved or not.
