Okay, let me set the scene for you. I’m 19, and my sister’s 16. Long story short, she’s got a sticky finger problem – like, majorly. 😩 Last year, she took our mom’s credit card and spent over $250 on clothes. My parents have basically thrown in the towel when it comes to disciplining her because, no matter what they do, she’s just a total rebel. We’ve all learned the hard way to stash our special things away so she doesn’t swipe them.
Clothes are her favorite target – ours specifically! No matter how many times we plead with her, she just ignores us. And the worst part? She has no clue how to care for her stuff. By the time we realize something’s missing, it’s usually wrecked, stained, or gone forever. 😖 Here’s where I hit my breaking point:
- 💔 After saving for ages, I treated myself to some amazing gym sets and jeans that were not cheap. The next day? Gone. The only thing I got back was one gym set, and guess what? It was stained. Ugh!
- 😡 I sold some sunglasses on Depop, but when I went to pack them, I discovered she had stolen and lost them. Seriously?!
This morning, she stole my favorite denim jacket, and I just lost it. 💥 So, when she went out, I decided it was payback time! I rummaged through her closet and loaded up two duffel bags with her expensive stuff – dresses, shoes, handbags, you name it! She’s literally left with nothing. Now I’m off to my boyfriend’s house, feeling like a total rebel. I thought about just tossing everything in a public bin, but I didn’t have the guts. 🤷♀️ Here’s the thing: I doubt it will teach her a lesson, but honestly, it feels great right now! Plus, I now have a mini wardrobe upgrade for when I’m at my boyfriend’s.
What do you think? Am I crossing a line, or is a little sibling justice justified? Have any of you dealt with something like this? Share your experiences! 💬
Sell what you can.
If you hear from her after she finds out, say, “Really? Somebody must have stolen them. Have you checked in 16f’s closet?”
Depop it!
Well done! Don’t be afraid of tearing or staining anything you wear either, apparently it’s not a big deal
Your parents should be dealing with her, giving up because she doesn’t listen is not patenting it’s enabling.
Get a lock for your room/closet and keep the jets with you at all times.
Sell it as compensation for all of your stuff she’s stolen and ruined or lost.
And please do post an update about the fallout.
Tell her “you get what you pay for”, which leaves…nothing 😉
Start looking into moving out. Parents may kick her out when the only one she has to steal from is them. Oh, and of course never leave her unsupervised in your new place; even better, never let her in.
Sometimes they need that dose of cold water to remind them that it’s not all about them
Get a freaking lock on your door already!
Sell them for gym gear.
And sunglasses.
And a denim jacket.
start wearing them
She will just raid your wardrobe; hope you have it locked.
DO NOT Wait TO SELL.
She owes you
