đźš« Please stop with the “boomer” posts đźš«
Are you tired of seeing divisive “boomer” posts on social media and want to understand why they are harmful to the working class unity? Let’s break it down and examine the impact of age-based attacks on our collective fight for fair wages, worker rights, and human dignity.
The problem with “boomer” posts
➡️ The division within the working class
➡️ The satisfaction of the owner class
➡️ The perpetuation of ageism
➡️ The hindrance to worker solidarity
The working class must stand united
It’s crucial to recognize that the working class includes individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. Our common ground is the need to earn a living and secure a decent quality of life. When we turn against each other based on age or any other demographic, we play into the hands of the owner class who benefit from our division.
Ageism and the fight for worker solidarity
Ageism is a form of discrimination that targets individuals based on their age. By promoting “boomer” posts, we are perpetuating ageist attitudes that further divide us. This division weakens our collective power and makes it easier for the owner class to exploit us.
Worker solidarity is the foundation of our strength
Regardless of age, religion, race, gender, or any other demographic, all working individuals share the common goal of fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, and basic human rights. Our unity is our strength, and by standing together, we can advocate for worker solidarity, strengthen labor unions, and demand regulations to hold the owner class accountable.
The real enemy: the owner class
At the end of the day, we must remember who the true adversary is: the owner class. They are the ones who prioritize profits over people, exploit our labor, and deny us basic human dignity. By directing our frustration and anger towards the owner class instead of targeting individuals based on their age, we can focus on organizing and strategizing for meaningful change.
Final thoughts: Let’s unite for a common cause
It’s time to shift the narrative away from divisive “boomer” posts and towards a message of unity, solidarity, and collective action. We must reject ageism and embrace the diversity within the working class as our strength. By organizing and working together, we can challenge the owner class, demand fair treatment, and secure a better future for all working individuals. Remember, our strength lies in our unity – let’s stand together as one working class, fighting for a better world. 🌟
If you are passionate about advancing worker solidarity and fighting for the rights of the working class, join us in this important cause. Let’s build a united front against the owner class and work towards a fair and just society for all. Together, we can make a difference. #WorkingClassUnity #Solidarity #WorkersRights #FairWages #EndAgeism
The boomer stuff yes some have adapted some have not. Its not easy just to change your thinking. But the real enemy is capitalism and what its done. 1 percent owns it all, that needs to get fixed.
One poster in this thread has the opportunity to reply with the most funniest line.
Boomers siding with the oppressive class are part of the enemy. I don’t have sympathy for dumb fuck entitled old people who defend exploitation.
“No OnE wAnTs To WoRk AnYmOrE!”
Then get out of retirement and work, boomer.
I agree. We need to stick together. We also need to sock as much as we can into 401k plans and IRA’s as we can. We cannot rely on social security.
Age race religion skin color sexual orientation are all things used to keep us fighting so we don’t see or understand that those who own everything keep us divided so we don’t stand against them.
Doesn’t matter if you’re a boomer or an 18 year old. If u think hard work will get you somewhere and that most people don’t want to work hard…fuck you.
The system is fucked and has been and we are now in the situation where if we stand and fight we lose everything.
Fuck it all and do what u can for yourself. Cause unless I wake up in the morning to a mass email where everyone in the world has decided to protest…there is no point in wishful thinking.
When I see posts like “all white people” or “all men” or “all [any group I am part of]” and the negative thing they’re saying doesn’t apply to me? I don’t take it personally. I usually agree because a lot of people those things _do_ apply to.
So instead of telling people “don’t talk about my group like that” I go “yes, my group does suck sometimes. I hope I’m part of the solution. I try to be.”
A lot of the criticism directed at boomers is well aimed. It does not apply to all of them any more than it a broad statement applies to any large group. But they are enough of a problem that I’m not concerned about the splash damage. I love my parents and they are good people, they are _not_ part of the problem. I still say “boomers X” all the time. They know I don’t mean them.
Depends. Are these Boomers voting for themselves (i.e. “I got mine, fuck you”) or for their kids and grandkids?
That said, I generally agree with the premise that the moneyed class wants to divide and conquer the working class, and it sucks.
They’ll do anything to divide us. Men vs women, boomer vs X vs Z, right vs left. The REAL battle, and ONLY battle is predatory class vs working class. As soon as people start realizing that, we can really start making some change.
To me, boomer refers to a mindset and not a generation. Anyone can be a boomer.
Don’t be mad that workers decades ago had it better. They had what they had. They had their struggles. And they had a better government. Government actually tried to improve the lot of the people they represented. Not always but more so than now.
The problem with boomers is they think they’re the owner class when in reality they’re the lowest of the working class because they bootlick more than anyone.
Are they going to stop anyone calling anyone younger than them lazy and entitled? I’m in my forties and get called lazy for not wanting to work on the weekends as I finish my work at work.
Things look differently on the continent, but in the UK & US the boomers are either so far right that they would never not support our oppressors or they’re already on board.
Ageism in any direction is just as hurtful as racism or sexism.
Yeah well, some people need to get with the program. The doors are open, but they need to step inside. I ain’t holding the door for them. The least anyone could do is learn and willingly step in.
It’s because they don’t understand the problem. Whenever I see “Boomers caused it” I just laugh because it’s so stupid. You were enslaved by corporations and a corrupt government. It’s funny in a way how people bitch about companies discriminating here yet in the same breath discriminate against people because of their age. Sums up the stupidity in this world, people against something while also doing the exact thing to others. Hope people realize you’re doing exactly what they want you to do, fight each other instead of them. No wonder Unions are going away, you’d rather fight within instead of the real enemies.
Really we just need to channel all of America’s useless racism into discrimination against the rich.
They use their influence to divide us and make it seem like the idea came from you, so yeah when you do what OP is talking about, you’re just helping them do their job, like they expect from a good slave. We don’t stand a chance if we’re at each other’s necks, not unified.
Well after scrolling for 25 seconds I see the division continuing
Let’s stop using “boomer” as a tag and use something more inclusive and multi generational. Something like “bootlick”
General strike. That’s the only way anything is going to change. If we are all hurting as human beings in the working class, the only way to make real change is to collectively stop working. It is not a generational problem as they need to pin us all against each other. Unfortunately, the propaganda and manipulation of the ruling class has made us scared to stop working, stop paying taxes, and make a stand.
Looks like most people in the comments missed your point, OP.
My Brown, Democrat, Boomer husband who has worked for minimum wage his entire life would completely disagree with you.
Not all boomers are White, Republican, Homeowners. Not all Boomers had the privilege or opportunity to continue education after high school. He is working 12 hours overtime this week. He is a dishwasher at a Dennys this week so our oldest grandson will have a nice birthday gift this year. 🥹
Generalizing an entire generation is extremely hurtful to the POC who grew up in straight up racism.. only to have it tossed back at them at 63.
Thank you! Completely agree.
I suspect that some of those posts are coming from trolls seeking to divide folks into factions ahead of the 2024 elections. It will take a multigenerational coalition to keep our democracy from being destroyed by malign internal and external forces.
Stick together folks.
So basically ALL Boomers suck without exception because of the failure of their generation to change the system. We are all guilty by default. We suck and should immediately end our existence because we just feed off the generations after us. We offend and so we should be no more, without exception. Point duly noted. May as well not ever listen, learn, converse with, or vote liberal because we are not necessary to the greater good and certainly not needed by anyone that follows. Goodbye world. RIP to EVERY person born 1946-1964
Big Business says they make more money when Grandpa and Grandma have to work until they die.
As much as I understand and appreciate the need to be unified against the problem of the rich. I also understand that at least from my experience boomers have their own mentality which is hurting everyone else and that’s why younger generations are upset. Every single older generation person I talk to has a house, care, and some even have additional land and cabins. They whole heartedly think nothing has changed and we are just lazy because we can’t have what they have. The I have mine so fuck you mentality is very real and these people generally only care about things that affect them and a large majority of these people are not affected because they have everything already.
The working class is broken and divided. Unfortunate but true.
My parents had a good life for the most part, but my mother (born in 1946) has cancer that will likely end her life and her 7-11 job expected her to work 2pm – 10pm ALONE in a busy ass store where she is expected to make pizzas to order for grub hub and ring up hordes of customers, make coffee etc. in order to keep her crap insurance plan for any amount of time even though she was protected by a LOA… age doesn’t mean anything – wealth does. Working in gas stations I have met countless widows from their era struggling to put food on the table working for min wage…
FWIW, I’m a retired boomer. Had a union job for 30 plus years. Blue all the way. No way am I a I got mine guy. I think the current conditions stink. Something really big needs to happen to shift things to the workers and rebuild a strong middle class. If somebody comes up with a plan I’ll be with ya. I’m too stupid to come up with one but I’ll be with ya. Huge general strike?
No war but the class war!
yep, makes many look bad. Some of the greatest people that I have known are boomers.
62 years old, born in 1961, meaning I’m a Boomer. I’m not sitting on any massive wealth. I bought a shitty house in a shitty neighborhood 20 yrs ago. My newest car is 10 yrs old and has 280k on it. I’m still punching a clock. I vote for the things that are important to me, such as Women’s Rights, even though I don’t have to worry about unplanned pregnancy; LGBTQ rights, even though I’m not LGBTQ.
BOTTOM LINE
I vote to give everyone the same opportunities as I have enjoyed.
Exactly right. There are plenty of people who fall into the age group described as “boomers” who are getting screwed on working, labor, pay, etc. That demographic group is not the enemy. The enemy are the super rich owners of businesses and the elected representatives who only serve to benefit financially from supporting them. “Boomers screwed the economy” is short sighted. The rich and super rich are the ones who screwed us and continue to do so.
No war but class war.
I couldn’t agree more all these posts hating on tipping hit the lowest of us, just don’t tip, but stop spreading the rhetoric, if you want to actually stop tipping culture you have to hit the employers not the employees
I hope we can pin this post.
Boomer here. I keep seeing these posts that the Boomers said, “I’ve got mine, screw the following generations.!” I don’t ever remember having that idea or hearing anyone say anything remotely like that. Did the Boomers vote for destructive politicians like Reagan? Yes. Did they have clue one about what would happen afterwards especially 40 years in the future? No! Reagan gave a message that he was behind the American people and that America was good and it was ok to be American. “Morning in America” was the campaign slogan, and it worked. People voted for him because he represented hope, and a strong country and prosperity. Was it all bullshit? Of course. The Boomers did what every other generation did. They lived their lives as best they could and tried to vote in governments that were beneficial to the country. This image of the cackling boomer laughing maniacally over how he screwed over his children and grandchildren is poison. All it does is divide us while the 1% does the laughing.
I don’t deny the destructive politicians that the Boomers voted in, but FFS it wasn’t on purpose.
