Have you ever noticed companies that keep interviewing for the same position because they “haven’t found the right person yet”? 🤔 It can be frustrating for both the current staff and potential candidates waiting in the wings.
Here are some thoughts on the matter:
– Companies keeping positions open for months can lead to overworked staff and decreased morale.
– In Nebraska, the governor took a bold step by eliminating all jobs open for more than 90 days, deeming them unnecessary.
– Instead of endless interviews, companies should consider:
– Hiring someone who shows potential and investing in their development.
– Mentoring and training new hires to ensure they grow within the company.
– Creating a positive work environment that fosters employee growth and retention.
What are your thoughts on this issue? How do you think companies can avoid the cycle of endless interviews and actually find the right fit for the job? Let’s discuss! 💬 #RecruitmentStrategies #EmployeeDevelopment

How did the Governor force private businesses to delete job postings or are you talking about only government jobs? And yes the government should make it illegal to keep jobs open for a year but they won’t since members of Congress are corrupt. There are a ton of fake job postings or jobs that stay open indefinitely.
I swear if they put the money they wasted on interviewing over and over and on listing fees into the salary they might actually be able to retain a quality person. But if they never hire. . . it’s still a 70% savings. . .
I recall one company I interviewed with.
Team meeting, they said they had a lot of work to do and it never ends, people don’t last long here because its kinda a lot. One of the hiring people said “we’re looking for the perfect person”.
I was like… you know your workers are spending hours a week in these interviews? And they’re already overworked? And the turnover is high? Like what is the point of this? You’re wasting everyone’s time, and wasting even more of your money elongating this.
Like, how can they not see this???
Something is not working for them. Maybe their ATS has disqualified the right person.
It reminds me of our local musicians looking to jam postings. There was a guy who posted daily for about 2 years wanting to jam and create. I messaged him and we chatted a bit. It felt like a good fit, then he ghosted.
A few days later, the ad was up again.
Job postings are a lot like real estate listings: if a house is on the market too long, people start wondering “what’s wrong with it? Structural problems? Bad neighborhood/school district?”
For job postings, you have to wonder are their requirements unrealistic?, Toxic potential boss/work culture? Have they offered the position to previous candidates but they declined due to crappy salary/benefits?
More importantly imho, if they can keep the requisition open that long, is the position really that critical and next time there’s layoffs, who’s to say some manager sitting in a conference room says “well, we survived before with that position unfilled, so we can let that person go…”
I interviewed at a place, and it very much looked like the CEO had rage-fired the entire company. The same position is still being advertised five years later.
