Have you noticed a trend where employers are refusing to do layoffs, but instead making your work life unbearable in order to force you to quit? 😡 It’s a frustrating and unethical tactic that many companies seem to be adopting in order to cut down on costs.
If you’re feeling the pressure at work and are struggling to cope with the toxic environment created by management, here are a few possible solutions to consider:
– Document everything: Keep track of any instances of harassment, micromanagement, or unfair treatment. This could come in handy if you need to take legal action in the future.
– Seek support: Talk to coworkers who may be experiencing the same issues. Strength in numbers can sometimes make it easier to address the problem collectively.
– Consider talking to HR: If the situation becomes unbearable, it might be worth addressing your concerns with HR. They have a duty to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Remember, you deserve to work in a respectful and supportive environment. Don’t let yourself be bullied out of a job that you rightfully deserve. 💪🏼 #StandUpForYourself #WorkplaceRespect
Definitely try to unionize and fight back collectively, but if you cannot mobilise your co workers, you can always just fail your KPI requirements. To my knowledge, in most places (though do look this up on your own for your specific situation) you are still eligible for unemployment if you are fired for incompetence
Sounds like you have three choices:
1. Unionize.
2. Become management and fix the problem yourself.
3. Find another job.
I’ve sat in the room with a lot of managers over the years, from low level peons to board rooms and back. I can with 100% confidence say it’s not maliciousness. It’s incompetence.
Quiet Firing is the new stealth layoff.
Just lean back, throw your feet up and relax, search the internet, do something for you. They will fire you…eventually..
Yep, I just had an infuriating taste of this… it’s leveraging civil liability against the cost of litigation and employee wellbeing… zero sum game society failure
Who wants to live in bad faith all the time? Unfortunately it seems practical to be constantly planning and considering to sue ones employer with the given likelihood
Lol no. Make them fire you
#Become the Problem
I remember in the old days when management tried that, the mentally weak would come into work with a gun and just start shooting.
I never condoned that sort of thing but management definitely stopped harassing the employees for a few decades.
They called it going postal.
Companies have been doing that for ages. HR has all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to do so. My mom had a job in HR back in the 70’s/80’s. She’s told me about a bunch of things they can do to get people to quit, in an effort to prepare me for “the workforce”. These are the ones that stuck out in my mind, mostly because I’ve observed it myself since then either from friends or myself:
* Limit raises to less than cost of living increase, or even no raise (this was one of the most common things)
* You get written up for the tiniest “infractions” that go against the Employee Handbook.
* Reduction in scheduled hours. (another most common thing for hourly workers.)
* For PIPs: Create impossible-to-achieve goals with impossible-to-meet deadlines … i.e.: increase billable hours 3x in the next 90 days. Focus on weaknesses, offering no constructive feedback or roadmap for improvement.
They’re all tailored to piss of the worker and make them quit.
Ah, PIP Bloating…
Just play their game. Do not quit, Force them to fire you. Don’t be so bad that they can fire you with cause, but definitely be a horrible employee. It’s a game of chicken, and you are getting paid.
