Do you ever feel like job interviews are just a whole lot of fluff and repetition? 🙄 I feel you!
Here’s the thing – I totally get it. Job interviews can feel fake and like a performance sometimes. But hey, since we can’t exactly get rid of them altogether, how about we look at some ways to make the process a little less painful and more productive for all parties involved?
Here are a few ideas to make interviews more authentic and meaningful:
– Focus on behavioral questions that dig deeper into a candidate’s past experiences and actions
– Implement more interactive elements, like case studies or situational exercises
– Encourage candidates to ask questions and engage in a two-way dialogue
– Use assessments or skills tests to gauge a candidate’s actual abilities and fit for the role
Let’s start a conversation! How do you think we can improve the interview process to make it more authentic and less repetitive? Share your thoughts below! 💬 #JobInterviews #Authenticity #RecruitmentTips
Same
Depending on the company, they usually have to ask all candidates the same boring questions otherwise they can be possibly liable for discrimination
Agree. Kaiser does this. Have to take the same assessment for each job even if the job is the same title or similar. 2-3 rounds of interviews for non-management jobs. In person when the interview could easily be over Zoom. HR and hiring managers lie to you or no show to interviews. You get ghosted or told bogus reasons for them not hiring you. despite spending hours of your time on the process they can’t even bother to spend 30-60 seconds to reply to an email. How those folks got their jobs will always be a mystery to me with the level of incompetence they display. Amazon is the same or worse.
Yup, that’s how the game goes. My problem is I’m afraid of embarrassing myself in interviews. but I find it that if I put myself out there and kind of fake it til you make it attitude than I tend to do better and have a higher chance at getting offers.
The trick is to take the lead of the conversation and then make it dynamic. Open with an observation and start the conversation, break the ice and then you’ll notice the entire vibe of the interview shift in your favour. It’s only stale because you’re allowing it to be stale.
I agree. I think Companies should open up their doors and make it known when managers need people and then if you’re that person and you show up, you are getting a job that day that’s all you don’t need a résumé. I don’t need to know what you did yesterday I just need to know what you’re doing for me today
I know how does me telling you my weakness determines if I am a qualified employee.
But what is their objective? To show that their Teams icon shows “In a meeting” ? I just do not understand. Do they have a quota of interviews to achieve to unlock the next level of Inhumaen Resource Dept?
OP, can you tell me about a time that you failed?
Do not underestimate the ability of someone who can fake himself/herself into a job.
That is a very useful skill for itself. Also it reveals that they have the cognitive capacity to understand what is expected from them and they also have the behavoural adaptability to perform accordingly.
That is quite a useful skill in any job.
