#SocialMedia #Platform #FounderTips
Hey there fellow founders who are in the social platform game! 👋 I’m currently working on my own social media platform and I could really use some advice from those who have been in the trenches before.
Here are some questions I have for you:
– Where do most companies in this space tend to stumble and fail?
– What are some unique challenges that you faced in the social media realm?
– How did you find success or if you failed, what would you do differently if given a second chance?
I’m all ears and eager to learn from your experiences. Let’s help each other navigate this tricky industry and come out on top! 💪
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights! 🚀
I would argue that this is a great time for social media apps! Cara launched a couple months ago and they already got 700.000 users (it’s basically an instagram, but for graphic designers), NoPlace hasn’t even launched yet, and there’s 600k pre-orders on the waiting list (it’s basically a social media, but with a nostalgic colorful layout), and a handful of others.
Follow [@nikitabier](https://x.com/nikitabier) on Twitter… the guy’s successfully launched/exited a ton of social media platforms.
However, if you look at most of his successes, they all involve targeting teenagers, which is a bit shady imo…
I run an event management platform with a large captive audience. Offering social media features makes sense for us, as we already have tens of thousands of users. I do not believe we would make any progress if we didn’t already have our user base. Since a platform needs a critical mass from which to grow, what’s your plan for getting enough initial users at the same time?
i founded a tarpit idea that failed in your scene. just because people say they’ll use it, doesn’t mean they actually will.
