🤔 Ever feel like your employer wants to work you to the bone while paying you next to nothing? Yeah, me too. #ModernDaySlavery at its finest, am I right?
✨ Here are a few possible solutions to combat this issue and advocate for fair wages in the hospitality industry:
– Negotiate for higher pay or additional benefits during the hiring process.
– Research local labor laws and know your rights as an employee.
– Consider joining a union or advocating for better working conditions collectively.
– Support businesses that value their employees and pay fair wages.
What are your thoughts on this topic? How do you think we can put an end to this cycle of exploitation in the workplace? Let’s discuss! 💬 #FairWages #EmployeeRights
Ah, but you’re supposed to aspire to become the boss someday! It’s called paying your dues. /s
I worked for a startup at a university where literally every chair had been thrown away and the rest area next to the controlled rooms had been turned into offices (always unoccupied and locked).
There were times I could not climb the stairs to the guest room after being on my feet all day long.
But… you know…. if you continue to put in the hours cOnSiStEnTlY and wOrsHiP wOrK, you might even be the assistant manager! You gotta dream brotha!!!

I was forced to work 2,500+ hours unpaid OT in abt 18 months (i consistently worked more unpaid hours than the 40 paid). Oh, and the job required hiking about 20 miles alone in the Everglades wilderness region w/o lights. This was a christian charity w/a huge endowment and extensive resources, but i felt overwhelmingly safer prowling w/the panthers than around the people. On the plus side, ppl didn’t know how i did what i did, and even the biggest bully is terrified of the dark woods and themselves- it takes much of their BS away after screaming like a toddler bc i walked past them and smacked them in the head b4 he had any clue i was there.
Their lack of ethics/morals destroyed me. It’s been 17 years since i left, and much of the pain is worse, not better.
Modern day slavery is still slavery. You know, when they pay you nothing and whip you if you don’t deliver.
Anytime I go out to eat I tip a minimum 15$. Nobody should be making single digits an hour
Serfdom not slavery, slaves didn’t get laid and serfs got paid just enough to go to work.
