🚨 #TXLaborLaws #EmploymentContracts
Hey guys! So, I recently stumbled upon this clause in my employment contract and it has me scratching my head. Can my employer actually reduce my pay to minimum wage if I decide to quit without giving a two weeks’ notice? Seems a bit sketchy to me… 🤔
Here’s the situation:
– The job is not that serious and the pay is not great
– But the contract states that failing to give notice could result in a pay cut
– This is at a franchised location in Texas
Possible solution:
– Research on Texas labor laws to see if this clause violates any regulations
– Reach out to a legal advisor or HR representative for clarification
What do you guys think? Have any of you encountered a similar issue before? Let’s discuss! 🗣️💬
As they’ve advised you in advance, this falls into the “shitty but legal” box.
They can reduce your wage for future, yet to be worked, hours.
They can’t retroactively reduce your wage for already completed hours.
You’d have to pursue this with the state department of labor.
