I don’t think that the Pinkerton name can be besmirched any further than it already has been by a basic understanding of US history.
Pinkerton WAS a detective agency that people aren’t aware of still existing today as wet-work and shady-shit agency….
The Pinkerton group are a bunch of evil vile cunts.
For anyone that doesn’t know, the Pinkertons IRL are basically criminals.
Sometimes I forget that they STILL EXIST.
Rockstar could of also had the Pinkerton do far worse shit have it be historically accurate.
tl;dr: pinkerton dropped their suit
Pinkertons were much worse irl than as portrayed in the game. Fuck them.
I wonder how they feel about the Weezer album?
Playing RDR2 now for my first time…. The level of detail put into this world is uncanny
Has there ever been a moment in history or modern life where Pinkertons have not been the villains?
That Rockstar legal team never takes an L. Suing them is burning money.
That criminal syndicate still exists?
To be fair, they are villains, so
Can’t sue the truth
Plus, fuck the Pinkertons.
Pinkerton have a very long history of *being* antagonists, despite starting off doing relatively good work…
Rockstar CEO:
“I got a healthy operation here, and I didn’t build it brooding on the right and wrong of things. And I do not need the Pinkertons descending like locusts.”
Playing RDR2 made me look up the Pinkerton agency out of interest. They’re now a subsidiary of some European private security firm and they’re even more evil than they were depicted as in the game.
Pinkerton should have thought of that before they used murderous thuggery as a business model
The Pinkertons should have thanked RS for making them look better in the game than they actually are IRL.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an incredible game. I strongly recommend it
If you’ve ever been in a large company that has had higher up come down, or a third party come in to talk to you about the evil of Unions, just know that the Pinkertons laid the blueprint for that. Eating the rich includes getting rid of Pinkertons.
Learned about the Pinkertons watching Deadwood. Sounds like they’re still shitheads.
Ah yes the Pinkertons, scourge of bank robbers and Magic the Gathering fans everywhere. They’re upstanding fellas always hired by the nicest people.
I mean…they have been the villains on more than one occasion.
Shit, they could’ve countersued on account of *accuracy*.
IIRC, there was also a level of Securitas going “Disparaging us by portraying us as cartoonish villains is libel” and Rockstar replied by producing a laundry list of atrocities that the Pinkertons actually committed, and how the stuff that they showed in RDR was tame by comparison.
Today I learned that the Pinkertons are still around.
It’s always nice to know that Union busting creeps didn’t disappear like you had hoped they did…/s
Ahhhh, Pinkerton, the anti documentation security firm.
They got fined a few years back for not keeping weapons safe, clean and tested in a nuke facility.
My great aunt was a Pinkerton. Mean, nasty woman. She did a lot of union busting for Keebler at the time (who I think is Ferrero now?). Basically, fuck Pinkertons and if you ever have to get involved with them make sure you’re recording -everything- at all times to a backup on your phone as they have 0 issue inflicting bodily harm on you while you leave your front door.
Based on the history of the Pinkerton’s, they’re as close as your going to get to cartoonish evil in US history.
Pinkertons were corporate sponsored terrorists for the first half of their existence. The real question is why do they even still exist?
When it comes to the Pinks, I’m with Al Swearengen.
As a union member, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart: fuck those guys.
