Hey HR folks! 👋 Have any of you been a member of HR Girlfriends? I’ve heard mixed reviews about it and I’m looking for some feedback before joining. I’ve been disappointed with SHRM lately and I’m hoping to find a new community to connect with. Would love to hear from current or former members about your experiences with HR Girlfriends. And if you have any alternative suggestions for good HR organizations, please share! Thanks in advance for your input! 🌟
Some possible solutions could be:
– Reach out to current or former members of HR Girlfriends for firsthand experiences
– Research other HR organizations and read reviews to find the best fit for you
– Join online HR forums and communities to expand your network and get recommendations from peers

I’m not a member of the paid community, but have had some meaningful discussions and connections with folks in the free areas.

Unfortunately I can’t speak to HR Girlfriends. I am a part of two groups – a local SHRM Chapter ( I serve on the Board) and an Employer Association.
I think being on the Board and being involved in the meetings has allowed me to make deeper relationships with other HR folks in the group. As other people said, I think being part of a national group is difficult, so it’s all about building those local connections.
A part of the Employer Association membership is HR Roundtables. My local EA hosts the Roundtables location based with about 10 members and we meet monthly. So once a month I’m meeting with other HR professionals and being really intentional about solving problems and getting advice. EAs also sometimes have HR Hotlines, as well. Which you could call and talk to another HR Professional.
I can’t speak to HR Girlfriends, but I have been keeping up with Hacking HR for a few months and that’s going well.
I’m looking at this one as well, for similar reasons. My local sub-chapter of SHRM – AHRM – is such a clique I can’t even ask them questions. I’m in Michigan.
What part of the country are you in? The national orgs are pretty meaningless to the average individual, it all comes down to how good your local chapter is.
