Na im about to turn 24 and have been unemployed for 6 months bc nowhere that pays decent wants to hire me and idk man im just lucky i live with my dad. But seriously you’re not alone I feel like your 20s is literally meant to be clueless.
Back when i was teen, i had few mates who were supposed to make it in sports, school or music. I mean, these were supposed to be the new Nikola Tesla in their field. All of a sudden, they stopped.
I also met people who were making the bank for a period of time, and here we are talking close to a million euro made every year, but they also stopped.
On the other hand, there were people that were so called nice guys but they changed. People who were addicts but now have some fancy degrees.
I believe that life happens in seasons. Each season has it’s own benefits and it’s owns struggels, but each season is made to teach us something and prepare are for the next season.
Early 30s. Nope
I think everyone just kind of makes it up as they go along. I think very few people today will follow after their parent’s footsteps. But I read that’s what the upper class does so that they keep the expertise and money in the family. The masses kind of just let their kids pick whatever profession they want. I could’ve followed after my dad’s footsteps but I was smoking too much weed and wasted my teenager and early twenties. I’m a Christian now so I have some general guidelines and also know that God wants me to spread the word. But as for what I am specifically supposed to be doing I think I have a lot of freedom to decide. The book Essentialism talks about how if you have too many competing interests or work projects you’ll never make significant progress in any of them. The best thing is to pick like one main thing and stick to it. I think it’s ok to have side interests though but maybe they would be related somehow to the main one. What’s important is after awhile of figuring out what interests you the most is committing to one thing. For some people though that discovering part of life takes longer than others. In Japan, it’s common for people to stay at one place of employment their entire lives. Very different where I’m at (US). People job hop and career change whenever they feel it’s necessary. Anyways…I don’t think you’re the only one struggling with not knowing what the heck to do in life. But I believe that our worth as human beings ultimately doesn’t depend on what we achieve in this world.
