Hey everyone, I wanted to open up a discussion on something that has been weighing heavily on my mind lately. Anxiety. 🧠
I’ve been working from home for the past 2 years, but it looks like that gig might be coming to an end soon. The uncertainty of my future career is really making my anxiety spiral out of control. 😓
I’ve been through some tough times in the past year, dealing with panic attacks and struggling with daily anxiety. I’m actively working on managing it through therapy, meditation, and self-help books. But the thought of transitioning to a traditional 9-5 job terrifies me. I know I need to work from home for the sake of my mental health, but what options do I have?
Here’s a bit about my background:
– 33-year-old female
– Bachelor’s degree in finance
– Associates degree in computer science (not a coder)
I know anxiety can be a hurdle, but I’m determined to find a solution so I can provide for my daughter. If anyone has been through something similar or has any advice to share, I would love to hear it. Let’s help each other out! 💪🏼
Possible solution:
– Consider freelance work or remote opportunities in finance or related fields
– Explore virtual assistant or online tutoring roles that leverage your finance background
– Look into digital marketing or social media management positions that allow for remote work
Remember, you’re not alone. We’re in this together! ❤️
I went through the same thing. Covid lockdowns really messed me up. My precious role didn’t help either. It was a contract role that was fully remote. Then I was unemployed for 5 months. What really helped me was taking little steps every day. Don’t want to be around people? Just go for a walk outside every day. Once you manage to do that go to places where there are more people. Grocery store, gym, etc. After that start hanging out with friends more often. Can start out at your place or theirs and eventually move toward public places.
Did you suffer pain attacks prior to having a WFH job? Does your therapy include a medical Dr that’s tests your blood work regularly?
Please try to keep in mind that you are educated and good at what you do. Did accounting cause your anxiety or trauma ? If not, then focus on separating work from Life. Your job is a paycheck nothing more, but your life is precious. Keep meditating, praying or doing whatever your Dr recommends.
Think about your daughter, because she loves her mommy very much and wants you to be happy. Give her a hug and yourself a break. You cannot control everything especially business
Hi. I was going to suggest some stuff but then I saw that you needed to be home. It may help to know what your anxiety stems from to determine what to do for work. I’m not in finance or computer science or anything like that so I apologize if my advice is bad or doesn’t make sense.
With a finance degree, could you do something in accounting? I belive I’ve heard more people need accountants.
There is a lot of WFH jobs that involving working for insurance companies, that I have heard pay pretty well.
I know someone who works for some sort of private company that involves drug trials, they have a BS in computer science but this place doesn’t care what BS you have because they will train you on the job, I think having the associates helps with places like these even if you can’t code. Maybe try looking for something like that?
If there is any sort of finance project or some sort of work that you have done that can be shown to a new employer then save it now before the job ends. Work on your resume and be prepared to tell a new employer what you can do! Best of luck to you!
