#JobSearch #CareerAdvice #Desperation #Dignity
Hey everyone! 👋 Have you ever found yourself applying for jobs that you know deep down are a horrible fit for you? 🤢 It can be such a tough spot to be in, especially when you’re feeling desperate for employment. I can totally relate to that feeling of wanting to wash away the ickiness after hitting that submit button on an application. 🚿
Here are some common types of jobs that I’ve found myself applying for, even though they just don’t sit right with me:
– Jobs that feel like a repeat of past experiences that I didn’t enjoy
– Positions focusing on tasks that I dislike the most
– Roles requiring skills that I lack or aren’t confident in
– Opportunities that don’t contribute to my career growth
– Positions offering the same or even lower pay than my previous job
Sound familiar to anyone else? 🤔 I know the pressure can be real to take whatever job comes your way, but sometimes it can feel like a blow to your dignity. 😔
One solution that I’ve been exploring is to take a step back and reassess my job search strategy. Instead of settling for any job out of desperation, I’ve been focusing on:
– Networking to explore potential opportunities that align better with my skills and interests
– Seeking out career development programs or courses to enhance my qualifications
– Being patient and selective in my job applications, prioritizing roles that have long-term potential for growth
What do you think? Any other tips or experiences to share on this topic? Let’s support each other in finding the right fit for our careers! 💼✨
Build that dignity for yourself.
**How?** Research other roles. Take some time (even just a few hours) to research what paths are available.
You should focus on what’s best for *you*. (You’re the captain of your own ship – so start focusing on figuring out what makes YOU happy, rather than letting others steer)
Let me guess. Your mom hasn’t worked a real job in decades?
A recruiter reached out to me to apply for something I had no experience in but I figured might as well apply. I ended up actually getting it. Pay was really good too.
However, the job did suck really bad and was nothing like they described in the interviews so I only lasted 2 months… lol
It is easy to say a job is a job when they are not the receiving end of it. When i was neeting for 2 yrs i was told to work as an amazon cagie. After working there awhile, I can’t stand it so i quit. Karma is a bitch. Some ppl who told me a job is a job lost their jobs. I repeated the same advice they told me. It is always this same reply anon is different i have experience and blah blah degree. Lol
I don’t apply to positions that I literally can’t do. For example: a recruiter contacts me regarding a communications role. Writing, editing, researching, creating brochures and business plans are within my skill set. BUT it also requires video experience. It’s a 3-month contract. Oh, I took classes on the subject, but I haven’t any real-world experience. If I applied and got the job, it would likely take WAY more time than what they budgeted to do for each video. It would take me ALL The time they have budgeted to do ONE video, as I didn’t have the appropriate experience
It all really depends on how much you need money…
