Life is a marathon. You have a long way to go still and planning and working smart and hard will get you there.Â
could be worse. I go to a target and have 0 finance internships. Don’t even have a job lined up lmao
I went to a garbage state school and just worked my ass off. Stop acting like you are a product of your circumstances and find a new job or move somewhere you can make some mondy.
Not really…pocket watching is unhealthy. Personally i only make 55k a year but the work life balance is amazing so im alright.
You can make some damn good money as a CPA. Just gotta find your own avenue.
I’m a few years older and making only a little more than you, but I also have a family to support. I’m trying really hard to grind to manager level but I’m not having any luck yet. External roles don’t really exist in my area, and with kids and all my family here I can’t relocate. At least we have jobs and there’s others that would love to be in our shoes, it’s just a matter of perspective I guess.
Don’t believe everything you read on the internet – focus on yourself. Comparisons are absolutely useless – you have no context and even if you did, how does it matter? Live your life to the best of your ability – in the end true success is having someone you love and who loves you back
Who knows if these post are real?
Lots of people just want attention.
Sometimes,. I make less than a lot of jobs I see on here, but I also have better WLB than them. Plus, I’m currently grinding for my CFA L2 in MY so there’s my motivation to succeed and get the bag.
My best friend’s uncle got out of the army, went to college, became a cpa, started his own mom and pop firm in Chicago. 5 years later, he had 30 employees and now makes more than I can imagine.
If you wanna get rich you don’t work for a company so you got every opportunity to do something for yourself
I got a return offer with one of the big accounting firms for 40/hr. You should definitely be making at least 100k by now. OP work on your CPA while also finding a larger firm to work for, doesn’t necessarily need to be a big 4 (bakerTilly, CBIZ, CohnReznick, etc) all of those firms pay very similar salaries to big 4 if not sometimes even more.
That’s why I’m getting the fuck out of accounting. Strategy consulting is the way to go.
You are viewing a very small percentage of people posting on a sub group in an industry. The posters can’t make up even 1% of the finance industry. There’s no way. It’s hard to not assume you are the only one not making crazy money when the few on here making $500k have the loudest voices and it appears to be the norm.
This is still social media.
Comparison is the thief of happiness. It can happen to anyone.
Just remember comparison is the thief of joy
Yes, me too. This is a very deep sadness caused by comparing myself with others. This is automatic most times. But I do not stay sad for too long. I use simple CBT techniques to cure my sadness & come back to normal, almost within few seconds. Just google cbt & read some book son cbt. It will surely help you.
I’d recommend seeing a therapist and/or taking a social media fast.
I occasionally have similar misgivings but we can’t change what we were born into only how we carve our own path to success. Better to earn it than be handed it.

That being said. I am a hypocrite so playing devils advocate… don’t compare yourself with others, I know much harder said than done. At the end of the day, as long as you are happy and content then it doesn’t matter how much you are making.
You couldve been making 100k+ easy had you just decided to job hop around in pa a bit and getting your cpa
30/hr for pa just means you work for a tiny firm, decent size pa firms pay salary and start off like at 70k entry level no exp. You should be at 6figs by now.
Accounting is the non target friendly field of business/finance.
lol, non target and military and you could still be 200k+ if you had applied yourself to that goal. Sooner you realize you’re in charge of all the results or lack thereof the better off you are
Focus on your own journey, figure out what works, what isn’t working and make adjustments.
Blaming it on a lack of privilege won’t help your depression. Take accountability and redirect your career toward something you either enjoy more or earn more to compensate.
