#FeelingLost #CareerConfusion #HelpNeeded
Hey everyone, so I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed lately, and it’s been weighing heavily on my mind. I recently went to the hospital to seek evaluation, and now I’m taking some time off work to try and calm down.
The thing is, I’m at a crossroads in my career. I thought I wanted to work in IT, but after landing a job at the help desk, I realized it’s not for me. Now I’m torn between staying in my current job in manufacturing where there’s potential for advancement, or taking a leap into the unknown.
The thought of being stuck in a job I hate, drowning in student loan debt, and feeling like I may never be able to live independently is just too much to bear. I’m at a loss for what to do next.
Has anyone else experienced a similar career crisis? Any advice or words of wisdom to share? Let’s brainstorm together and help each other out. Let’s figure this out and make the right choice together. 💭✨

I’m really glad you are reaching out to get help and taking some time off.
There is a lot of opportunity in the world, and a healthy mindset will help you see opportunities that suit you. You’re doing the right thing in caring for yourself.
Perhaps, when you’re feeling better, you can look around at your company that you like working at. Since you already have a foot in the door, it will probably be easier to change roles: You are a known quantity and it’s cheaper move people around than higher brand new people. Consider finding people in other functions and asking them for an informational interview (that could be something as simple as, “Hey can I buy you a cup of coffee? I’d love to know more about how you got where you are”). People are often willing to share their paths, what their day-to-day work looks like, and what kind of skills you can develop to be successful in their function. Not only will this give you a better idea what you’d like to do with your life, it also is a way to build social connection across your company. When a job opens up in their department that you’re qualified for, they’ll recognize your name.
Life is definitely worth living I have had my share of challenges even many years of challenges but weathering the storms and getting closer to God and Christ had been beyond worth it. Much love and God bless you! Please definitely get the good medical attention you need.! God bless you again! Please love yourself to live!
With your degree and your enjoyment of manufacturing, have you ever taken a look at perhaps leadership positions? There’s a few jobs that just require you have any kind of degree
I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I am so glad you’re getting help.
Unfortunately, the only solace I can offer is the cliche that you’re not only one that is struggling with finding a career that pays money and one they love and insane student debt. A whole generation has been messed up.
I chose a job that pays but it’s so stressful. It took a while to make peace with my choice. It’s just the state of the economy at the moment and outside of our control.
But nothing is static. And we’re not static either. Who knows when things will change or whether or not we find something that inspires us and pays. Best to choose to be here.
