Can we talk about this absurd situation? 🤔 Has anyone else been told to come in despite having Covid? It’s absolutely mind-boggling to me that a company would expect someone with a highly contagious virus to show up for work. 🤯 Here’s what happened to me when I was working at McDonald’s and got sick with Covid:
– Called in sick and was told to come in wearing a mask
– Was told it’s “just like the flu” and to not worry about it
– Remembered that going in while sick would violate my contract
It’s alarming that some employers still don’t take the health and safety of their employees seriously during a global pandemic.😷 So, what can we do in situations like this? Here are a few possible solutions:
– Remind your employer of your rights and the contract you signed
– Seek advice from a legal professional or union representative
– Follow up with local health authorities to report unsafe working conditions
Let’s share our experiences and insights to help each other navigate these challenging times. Stay safe out there! 💪 #StaySafe #EmpowerWorkers
Report them to your state health board.
Get it in writing.
God I hate this argument. No one going to pick up a cheeseburger wants the damn flu either.
How would you even know you gave COVID 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d send an email: “Following up on our conversation, I will come in despite being sick with COVID, per your request.” Then go in and tell your workmates to “keep some distance because you have COVID.” When you get a cough, go cough near your manager.
What country are you in? That could be illegal.
Tell them you have diarrhea.
What’s the threshold now? Smallpox? Cholera? Ebola?
The teller at mcdonalds was vomiting while he took money at drive thru. Hw told me his manager refused to let him leave
There are reasons people are eating out less besides just the economy. Companies don’t realize we know what’s going on and why we avoid certain things.
Even if it was just like the flu, people with the flu should not be at work spreading the flu, especially if their work is food!
McDonald’s policy, in the handbook, is to not work when you have a communicable illness.
Reference that with your manager and ask for them to put the deviation from policy in writing
Covid isnt “like the flu”. I believed that cus that’s what I was told. I got covid a few weeks ago and it’s NOT like the flu at all. People need to stop spreading that nonsense. It can get people killed. It’s a lot more serious than the flu and I’m still dealing with it.
fun fact, working with the flu is ALSO a health code violation. Report their asses to the local health department.
Why can’t people say “lm sick, I won’t be in.”
I work in food as well. There should be a sign hanging somewhere that says STAY HOME IF YOU’RE SICK it’s required to be posted, just like the wash your hand signs are
