Hey everyone, I’m at a bit of a crossroads in my career and could really use some advice. 🤔
So, basically, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not passionate about my current job anymore. It’s starting to affect my performance, and I feel like I’m just going through the motions every day. 😞
I’m considering making a big pivot and trying something completely different, but I have no idea where to even start. How do you figure out what your next move should be? And is it worth taking a pay cut for a job that might bring me more fulfillment?
Some possible solutions I’m considering:
– Take some time to explore different industries or roles through informational interviews or job shadowing to get a feel for what might interest me. 🌟
– Consider working with a career counselor or coach to help guide me towards a new path. 💼
– Look into transferring my skills to a different field that aligns more with my passions, even if it means starting at a lower level. 🔄
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! Have any of you made a big career change before? How did you navigate the process? Let’s chat! 🗣️ #CareerAdvice #NewBeginnings
It’s a job. Not source of happiness. Use the income to fund your hobby/ lifestyle to the max. I worked a job I loved for 20 years. Now I have corporate job and can actually afford to go ride my bike. Instead of just work on other peoples bikes all the time. I even have Saturdays off to go ride.
Some people live to work, but MOST of us work to live. Use the money from a decent job to fund the things that actually make you feel fulfilled. Very few lucky people can actually say they love their jobs all that much. It’s mostly something we tolerate.
Care to share what did this for you >>>>>>>gone on a bit of a personal journey. I’ve found a new hobby that I LOVE and it has done incredible things for my physical and mental well being.

Every job, even ones we’re passionate about, has elements of bullshit you don’t care about. I have varied between my job being a calling (like 10-20% of my career), to taking pride in my craft (I’m a damn good geologist), to just doing bullshit because someone says I have to (spreadsheets! Spreadsheets! Make sure you have the underlined right!). Being able to stay in the job depends on the kind of bullshit you can put up with.
For you, your hobby can be your passion, and your job the bullshit you put up with to be able to do what you want. I don’t think you need to take a massive leap away from your work field, but could you alter things a bit to try something different?
