#FreshmanBusinessGoals 💼 #BuildingMyFuture 🌟 #CollegeEntrepreneur 🎓
Hey there fellow freshmen! So I’ve been thinking about my future goals lately and I have this burning desire to start my own business and become financially independent. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be their own boss, am I right? But here’s the thing – I’m just starting out in college and I don’t really know where to begin.
As an aspiring engineer who dreams of starting a business, I’m feeling a bit lost in terms of what steps I can take right now to work towards that goal. So, I’m turning to you all for some advice. What can I do as a 1st year college student to start paving the way for my entrepreneurial journey?
Do you have any tips, tricks, or experiences to share? Let’s brainstorm together and help each other out! Drop your suggestions below and let’s start building towards our bright futures. 💡 #LetsDoThis 💪 #EntrepreneurialMinds 🚀 #WeGotThis 👊
Get more experience in the field, that makes it easier to get funds later.
Also an engineering/hardware startup is propbably the most expensive. Ask my how I know 😐
Learn marketing.
Make anything go viral, and you can sell anything.

Or you can find a simple product that’s in demand and sell it at your school.
I hope this helps!

I was in your position 15 years ago. Here is what I would tell myself if I have a time machine:
1. Find something you are really passionate about.
2. Learn everything about it (both the technology and the market behind it).
3. Get really, really good at it. Be in the top 1% in that field, ideally the top 0.1%. (Also, don’t be afraid to get a job at first. Working at a top company can be a great way to learn.)
4. Don’t get too comfortable at your job. Save money and start small when you are ready.
Gain experience in your field through internships and build your portfolio ( if your field requires that )
i am also in fy – i am previous owned marketing agency but they failed as i didn’t have exp in the field , now i am currently working on 2 electronics/iot products ( i am 7yrs of exp already in electronics ) . Hence open business regarding a particular skill which you have few yrs of exp or else gain valuable skill
Pitch to local apartment complexes to do valet trash
Here’s the secret: you always have a boss, even if you start your own business lol
Enjoy being a student. Whatever you do, try to be fully immersed and involved. Plenty of time for entrepreneurship – not as much for youth.
Take exceptional notes of your classes and sell them to students taking that class.
Make friends.
I haven’t seen this mentioned yet, but here’s what I would do if I were back in college today.
1.) Save up as much as possible for a down payment on the biggest house I can afford that won’t fall apart. Rent each room out to roommates and build equity. This will get you 3-4 years of loan pay down, appreciation, and ideally cash flow that you’d be paying to someone else anyway.
2.) Start a service based business that is easy to teach others and scale with inexperienced labor. Think painting, landscaping, pool maintenance, moving, cleaning, handyman, property management, etc. There’s a natural network of peers looking for flexible ways to earn more income so there should be an abundance of labor for you to hire out after learning the business yourself. And when owning a property yourself, it’s nice to have experience in something home related.
I would not sacrifice my coursework or career aspirations for these things unless they really took off, but could provide significant income with focus on growth over a few initial years.
Don’t stress yourself out too much your first year of college!! It also takes time to adjust to college, meeting new people, etc
Get an internship in an engineering company or engineering dept.
You’re currently clueless and don’t even know what you don’t know.
Get with people in your line of work and learn from them. Even things basic things like how they organize and run projects to their human interactions will colleagues and clients will help your be successful in the future.
You’re trying to run a marathon before you learn to crawl. Don’t make that mistake.
Study and go to class and make friends. Party a bit and enjoy the experience.
I am also a college freshman lol. Hit me up!
Learn how to sell and market
How about just getting started? Failure is your biggest teacher and you will learn a LOT! Do things that you think will work. You’re going to fail 9/10 times and that’s expected, but you won’t make the same mistake again. Good luck
