Hey everyone! 🌟 Need some help here. So, I’ve been rocking it in Oncology pharmaceutical sales for the last 5 years and now I’m up for a product management role in the same company. The only catch? I’m competing with 2 internal candidates who have product management experience but zero knowledge of the oncology market — which I obviously have in spades. How do I make sure I stand out in the interview and seal the deal?
Here are some suggestions I’ve come up with:
– Highlight your deep understanding of the oncology market and how it can benefit the product management role
– Showcase your track record as a top performer in sales, demonstrating your ability to drive results and meet targets
– Emphasize your 8 years of experience as a healthcare professional in Oncology, illustrating your expertise and credibility in the field
What do you all think? Any other tips or strategies you’d recommend? Let’s help each other out and nail those interviews! 💼💪
Enthusiasm
Competence backed with confidence! It’s always a problem when people have confidence over competence, but you have both. In the areas that you don’t have enough experience, be ready to show some examples of how you’ve already use those skills and other settings.
To really stand out, connect your sales achievements to tangible product improvements or market insights you gained. Did your understanding of the oncology market lead to strategies that boosted sales or gave you unique insights? Quantify your successes whenever possible. Since you’re up against internal candidates with product management experience, highlight any projects where you showcased those skills, even if they weren’t in a formal product management role. Did you lead a sales campaign, propose new product features, or provide feedback that influenced product development? Remember, they may know the process, but you know the market and the customer—own that!
