“How many new programmers join the coding community daily? 🤔 #programming #learntocode #codingcommunity
Did you know that thousands of people embark on the journey of learning programming every day? Whether it’s through online platforms like freecodecamp, in school, or at work, the number keeps growing.
Factors like initial interest, access to resources, and persistence contribute to this daily influx of new learners in the tech world. But how many people actually start their coding journey each day?
Share your estimate and method of calculation – let’s uncover how many aspiring programmers take their first step into coding today! 💻✨ #techworld #computerscience #codingrookies“
A lot of people think programming isn’t hard work or it’s just creativity, they got it wrong, it’s hard work and creativity is just minor part of it

In 2010 in a school of 2400 students there were about 60 that took a computer science class every year. Lets run with that number. There are 17.3 million high schoolers in the US if we trust the google LLM when you search. So 60/2400 * (17.3 x 10^6) = 1/4 * 17.3 * 10^5 = 432,500 high schoolers per year. Lets say peak time to learn programming is between High school through age 30. Then that gives 16 years when it may occur, and about 432,500 people do it every 4 years. So we conclude that 1.73 million people in the US attempt to learn programming every year.
That is about 0.5% of the population learns to program every year.
This is probably an enormous over guestimate but you can use this info.
I’m too lazy to do this myself but if you made me estimate I’d take take Google trends data for popular languages like [Python](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=%2Fm%2F05z1_&date=now%201-d&geo=GB&hl=en-GB), C++, Javascript and then take an average. Maybe use other topics with mainstream rise like Taylor Swift or something to get a good benchmark for comparison
>  How many people started learning to program today ?
I’d guesstimate `2^64 + 3/8` people started to do so today.
Exactly 20,156.
While trying to learn Vim, I found it very difficult and started to feel a little numb.
