Hey there! Dealing with pet custody after a breakup can be a challenging and emotional situation. I completely understand your dilemma and the desire to prioritize your dog’s well-being. Here are some tips on how to navigate this situation and come to a resolution that works for both you and your ex-partner:
### Communicate Openly and Honestly
– **Sit down with your ex-partner:** Have a calm and respectful conversation about your concerns and preferences regarding pet custody.
– **Express your reasons:** Clearly communicate why you feel sharing custody or paying for the dog’s expenses might not be feasible for you, especially considering your future plans to move.
– **Listen to their perspective:** Hear out your ex-partner’s thoughts and reasons for wanting to share custody or receive financial support for the dog.
### Seek Mediation or Legal Advice
– **Consider mediation:** If you’re struggling to reach a mutual agreement, a neutral mediator can help facilitate a conversation and find a compromise that works for both parties.
– **Consult a legal professional:** If necessary, seek legal advice to understand your rights and options regarding pet custody. They can provide guidance on the legal aspects of the situation.
### Prioritize the Dog’s Well-being
– **Focus on what’s best for the dog:** Keep your furry companion’s best interests at heart when making decisions about custody arrangements.
– **Create a schedule:** If sharing custody is ultimately agreed upon, establish a clear schedule for when each of you will have the dog to ensure stability and routine for your pet.
### Bhagavad Gita Insights
In the context of your situation, the Bhagavad Gita offers wisdom on detachment and letting go. Remember that material possessions, including pets, are temporary and should not overshadow your inner peace and well-being. Find solace in the knowledge that you can still love and care for your dog, even if physical custody is not shared.
Ultimately, finding a resolution that respects both your wishes and your ex-partner’s concerns is key. By approaching the situation with open communication, empathy, and a focus on your dog’s happiness, you can navigate pet custody after a breakup in a way that brings peace to all parties involved. Stay strong, and know that you’re doing what’s best for yourself and your beloved fur baby! 🐾💕
I hope this advice helps you navigate this challenging situation with grace and understanding. Remember to prioritize self-care and seek support from loved ones during this transition. Best of luck! 🌟
A dog is seen as property legally, and you would not provided financial support for the dog. The dog belongs to him, and it is his financial responsibility to take care of the dog.
Just say “no thank you” and leave it at that. He can try to get a lawyer involved and they would laugh at him.
Child support. Bahahaha 😆
Stand up and be cold hearted . First the dogs legally belong to whomever is on the receipt for the purchase . Why is he not blocked ? There is no reason to have him in your life . You’re moving then moving again . What does his friendship offer you in the future . He wants to share stuff so he is still
Connected . You love the dog but block
And move on
He’s silly.
LOL…he’s a dick. Just say “Penny is your dog and you are taking her” END of story.
Don’t give him your new address 🤣
The dog is property. You are under no obligation to financially support it once you split. Just say no.
They’re using the dog as a means to stay in your life and control you. Either give them the dog and block them, or keep the dog and block them.
Cut all ties with him and the dog. He’s using it as leverage to meddle in your life after you have split up.
Just say no, I’m not doing that, wish you all the best with your future endeavours, but I don’t want any contact going forward.
And then block him.
>He said he not only wants us to work out a schedule to have them, but also for me to basically pay child support for the dog
Shared custody means no support…
Either way, he’s just trying to use the dog to control you. Just say no.
Yeah, no. It’s a dog, not a human child. He keeps the dog but if he wants some type of payment from you he can take you to court. (Which he won’t do because that’s really silly because it’s a dog)
Just say no. Tell him it’s always been considered his dog and either he can take it or you can take it to the pound.
They are trying to keep you in their life through the dog. Say no and cut ties.
Move out, leave the dogs, say good bye and give them a big hug and then get the hell out of there and don’t look back
Say no
I have a friend who is required have his dog FaceTime with ex wife once a month. It’s in the divorce agreement. He obviously found this highly annoying so he pays someone to do the FaceTime event for him.
This doesn’t help you. But yeah. It’s dumb.
You can just go no contact ya know?
It sounds like he’s using the dog as a means to both stay in your life and squeeze some money out of you
Sounds like he is using the dog as a way to stay connected to you. If you have no desire to stay connected to the dog, just cut ties and dont agree to anything related to the dog. If he is asking for financial support, tell him to find a lawyer that will take that case (spoiler alert: no lawyer will take that case)
Just say no.
