Have you ever wanted to skip the negotiation process when selling something online? This technique can work in any transactional situation and is particularly useful when trying to avoid solicitors.
How to Avoid Negotiating on Marketplace or Craigslist
– Inform the buyer that you are selling the item on behalf of your boss
– Mention that you do not have the power to change the terms
– Use this tactic to avoid unwanted negotiations and solicitations

“No.” is a complete sentence.
Just say no. Or that you aren’t willing to negotiate.
No need to make up some stupid story.
Life pro tips should not include encouraging lying. We have enough of that crap already. Learn to communicate and lying isn’t necessary. (Yes there are exceptions when safety, for example, is involved).
My issue is all the scam responses and ghosting
Or just say price is firm. Duh
This is bad advice.
Be aware that in almost every state, ANY misrepresentation you make (whether you feel it is relevant to the item itself or not) in the course of selling an item constitutes fraud.
You can freely lie in almost every area of your personal life, but any lie made in a response to someone inquiring about an item you are selling makes you guilty of fraud.
The boss being my wife. If I don’t sell it at this price she won’t let me sleep inside.
Or just don’t negotiate. No need to lie. Just grow a backbone.
“I’m selling it for my: Mother in Law/sister in law/ and they said if they can’t get their price they will as soon as keep it “
I live in an honest part of the country. So I have my “money table”, an old picnic table in my front yard.
If I’m selling something cheap I just put it on the table next to a mason jar with a rock in it. I tell the guy, hey I’m not home, but there’s a table, a jar, and a rock. If you like it, put the money in the jar with the rock.
It works well, I get rid of stuff I’d probably otherwise throw away for free, and money comes in. And people don’t haggle. Some I think are more likely to show up because they’re socially awkward– I get stood up less doing this than just waiting around all Saturday afternoon.
Just list it higher than you want for it so when you negotiate down the customer gets a ‘deal’ and you get what you want..
You tell me you are selling for someone else when I enquire about the item, I don’t bother messaging you back. This has always been a scam in my experience. So I will not bother with it anymore.
I just say the price is firm.
In my experience about 90% of people responding to these kinds of things try to get it for less, regardless of whatever you say in the ad, and no matter how cheap you make it. The vast majority of them are completely out of touch with market prices so will often offer only a fraction of the value. This is just how it goes.
