ℹ️ Has anyone else experienced issues with Expedia charging the wrong amount for a booking? 🤔💸
I recently booked a hotel on Expedia expecting to pay around $156, only to find out they charged me $321! 😱 After multiple attempts with customer service, the hotel is refusing to refund the difference and I’m left feeling frustrated. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
– Contacted Expedia customer service, but keep getting different representatives 📞
– Checked the same hotel on Expedia again and found it listed for $250, still more than expected but less than what I was charged 💰
– Saved screenshots of all conversations with customer service reps 📸
Does anyone have any advice on how to get this charge refunded and book a hotel within my budget? Maybe filing a dispute with my credit card company could be an option? 🤷♂️ Your input would be greatly appreciated! #Expedia #BookingIssue #CustomerServiceHelp
Good luck. I argued with them for around 6-8 hours just to waste Expedias money and time and they finally agreed that it was worth paying me back the funds instead of paying staff to talk to me.
I had a similar experience booking my first trip to Las Vegas through Expedia. After making it all the way to check out and putting in credit card information it immediately updated saying this price is no longer available and charged extra $350 for no reason. In a panic I called but got no answer but luckily a few days afterwards, I checked my bill and the payment didn’t even go though but it took a couple days for it it appears. I had anxiety for 3 days hoping it would clear. Never thought expedia was such a shady website. Never again.
The on advantage of Expedia is brick and mortar stores.
I would go to one and do some person speak.
are you staying for 2 nights?
CC charge back seems to be the answer here. Recently, I haven’t found Expedia(and others) prices to be better than actually booking with the hotel.
It’s no help to you now, but when I’m at a hotel and need a change or made a mistake myself. The first question they ask is if I booked through them or a 3rd party. If you’ve booked through them directly they seem more enabled to fix things up for you.
Was the $156 the final advertised price with tax and in CAD dollars?
How many nights are you staying? If it’s two night I wouldn’t be surprised if you were looking at a per night rate.
What’s the breakdown on the receipt. Probably 156 plus tax and fees. Example some towns have specific fees just for hotels or resorts charged per night.
You initiate a chargeback, but based on what you’ve shared this sounds like user error, and the CC company will likely want some sort of proof that you were mislead when booking.
What price does your receipt show?
Have you actually tried contacting the hotel and explaining the issue directly?
Here is a tip: use Expedia to search, but when you find a hotel you like, contact the hotel and book directly through them. Hotels prefer direct bookings.
