Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a pickle and could really use some advice. 🤔
So, I’m trying to break into the IT field to leave my retail job behind, but all the entry level positions I come across require 2-5 years of experience. How am I supposed to get experience if I can’t even get my foot in the door? It’s beyond frustrating! 😤
Here are a few possible solutions I’ve been considering, let me know what you think:
– Look for internships or volunteer opportunities to gain hands-on experience
– Pursue certifications or online courses to enhance my skills and knowledge
– Network with professionals in the industry to seek mentorship and guidance
If you’ve been in a similar situation or have any advice to share, please chime in! Let’s help each other out and navigate this tricky job market together. 💪🏼 #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #ITIndustry
I got turned down for a Senior Process engineer role a while back because I didn’t have enough experience. It was 17 years at the time ……
Lie
They want to hire an experienced worker. They want to pay entry-level wages. That’s what entry-level means.
I would make sure your CV includes any IT work you have done. Even if it wasn’t paid work. Get creative. i.e.
1. 6 months training in Java/C++/etc. (I took a community college class.)
2. I have taken 120 hours of online training. (I watched a bunch of YouTube videos by this guy from India,)
3. I have completed 15 hours of personal study. (I read HTML for Dummies.)
4. I have 3 years of experience in Tech Support. (I’ve helped Grandma fix her gmail since high school.)
Entry IT is extremely difficult to get into right now because mid and experience level people are applying for the entry positions.
Really tough IT job market currently.
Problem is outsourcing. It is easy to outsource low level positions so there’s a dearth of those. So it’s hard to get in and hard to get enough experience to get senior positions. It’s been this circle of stupid for over 20 years already…
100% lie
Ignore the requirement and apply anyways.
apply anyway. Candidates don’t need to check every box on a job description. The right candidate is the one who fits the best for the team hiring.
Bullshit job post invites bullshit applications
AI has driven a large portion of entry level IT work out. It started a year and a half ago.
You probably need to look at something different. A large portion of entry level health care positions pay for certifications and college. I would start there.
As to the rest you might want to try bankruptcy.
move
Don’t worry because I have those requirements and still can’t get an interview. So it doesn’t matter even if you do…
You gotta get creative
