#LaidOff #WorkplaceDrama #Unemployment
So I was laid off / deactivated by my boss last Friday. She mentioned that I’m the only one who can afford this, and that the other women in the office might react emotionally. It’s a bit confusing for me, as I was told I’ll be re-activated in 3 months without surrendering any equipment. 🤔
How would you handle this situation? I’m seeing it as a temporary break and starting my unemployment process, but my coworker thinks I’m being too positive about it. Any thoughts or advice?
Possible solutions:
– Consult with HR for more clarity on the situation
– Consider exploring other job opportunities during the “vacation” period
– Stay proactive in improving skills or certifications to make a strong comeback 💪🏼
Looking forward to hearing your insights!
Sounds kinda sexist
Can you get that in writing, cause that’s absolutely sexist.
A woman being sexist against other women, ya don’t say.
If I read this right, you are male, your boss is female, and the others in your department are also female. If so, then read the room. Your boss doesn;t give fuck-all about you. They’re protecting their peeps. Sayonara and goodbye.
>My coworker said my view of reality is distorted because I see this as a vacation as I start my unemployment process (which our HR said I was eligible for).
Yes, a ‘vacation’ where you are paid a fraction of your normal salary under unemployment. You might want to take your ‘vacation’ time to explore other employment options.
That’s Sexism, hire an attorney.
I’d get it in writing that that’s the exact reason. And then sue for discrimination. Because that’s discrimination.
Hand all that shit in.
The notion of letting go of the person who can “weather” unemployment best due to a more comfortable financial situation is certainly not an unknown one, especially in smaller firms. But letting go of the only male who works in an otherwise all-female company for such reasons? Kiddo, you’ve got a Netflix miniseries right there!
Though what the CEO is likely true, and the people I usually see cry due to being laid off are women, it shouldn’t dictate who they lay off. It’s toxic male syndrome that keeps men from crying anyway. One artifice built on top of another artifice.
We can be deactivated now? WTF. Call it what it is.
What the fuck does de-activated mean? Will you come back with the same seniority? Do you start all new again with your previous service wiped out, what would your new starting/returning pay be? Benefits? Sounds like you got fired. What country did this happen in?
It doesn’t matter if you can afford to weather this, it’s sexist and you need to contact a labor lawyer to discuss your rights.
Well…. This time round, the shoe is on the other foot, female boss firing a male worker. That’s about as sexist as I’ve ever seen… Something needs to be done about that.
Sounds like you should document this and tell hr
It is a power play if it isn’t sexist.
Ummm what kind of reason is that?
Are you sure they will rehire you?
