If I just received $250K randomly just like that? Yes that would be life changing.
Yes
Absolutely
>The average college graduate makes 100k every year and the average suburban home costs $1M.
What?
yes, i do. hell, 5k is life changing. 250k is life setting. i would be able to build a business with that kind of money. i would never need to worry again.
Yes
It would be a solid downpayment on a new house where I live, so moderately life-changing.
Would I consider 5 years’ salary life changing? Yeah, I think I would.
Yes. I could pay off my mortgage. Owning a house free and clear is life-changing.
I could buy a nice house outright, pay off the cars, and still have like 100k left. So, yeah. For me, it would be.
A tax-free lump sum?
Yes, it would impact my life.
Life-changing might be a stretch.
– Average college graduate makes 100K every year
What college you are graduate from to make that statement?
Absolutely. I could get my house fixed, I could get my car fixed, I could keep all my bills and my girlfriend’s bills paid up, I wouldn’t have to worry about my mortgage. In essence, yes, because I wouldn’t be under so much Goddamn stress.
Well my mortgage is £90,000 minus whatever I’ve paid off in the last 9 months. So I’d pay that off, and even without the money I’d have left, that’d leave me with an extra £430ish per month.
Once it’s invested, sure. If it’s wasted on products in the near term just because you have cash at hand, not life changing at all.
No the average college grad is not making 100k annually. Closer to like 50k minus taxes
With the amount of debt i have, yes.
Yes
I would consider being given the equivalent compensation of one third of my day for two and a half years up front to be life changing, adhering only to the numbers you cited.
I could literally not work for 5 years with that kind of money but realistically it would just go towards a house. So yes
I’d consider 10k life changing ngl
Yeah you got a source on that stat? Signed a college graduate maybe making 55k a year at most (yay stem)
Confidently incorrect with both of those statements.
In my country that’s a fortune (0.75M TND). I would really do many things.
Of course.
Your stats are *wildly* inaccurate.
Yes
Pay off debt and put a really nice down-payment on a house. Then invest the rest. Yep. That would change my life.
1 million for a suburban home jeez Louise where New York?
Yes 250k is nice to invest, compounding really starts to kick in fast with that kind of money.
Easy early retirement, if you get this money ASAP in your life
At a minimum, its enough for most people to take 5 years of work. If invested, you could retire 10+ years earlier. For others it could pay off the mortgage, or get them on the properly ladder with a very strong deposit.
It’s absolutely life changing. It’s not “quit your job and never work again” life changing. It might not significantly change your life immediately, but it will make a significant difference in the long run.
Depends on the person. They could be stupid and blow it.
Think you need to reevaluate what you think a college graduate makes. My first job out of college was 52k a year. Granted I’m in med school now but the average college graduate doesn’t make good money.
Life changing? No.
Very helpful? Absolutely.
What kind of rich persons bubble do you live in? Lol
Yep my partner and I could actually buy an apartment outright within 5 years if I combined 250K with my current (not quite) down payment. This would make future retirement with the current climate in my city doable.
Absolutely
Even in expensive areas, $1 million isn’t an average home price.
Life changing? Yes
Enough, as just a bulk fund to change life for life? Not at all
Enough to invest well to change life for life? Absolutely
Average income for a college graduate is 52k
Average home price is 418k.
250k would be life changing for some 99.99% of humans
Yes. Is it life-changing in the way that I could quit my job and become a retired nomad… no. But could it help me clear all my debt, some home improvements that I’ve been holding off on, and take almost all financial burden off… Yes, that’s life-changing.
No
Ok bro why are you posting about “cum bigger loads” 😭😭
No. It’s not. Unless you’re poor or have lots of debt. $250k is not enough to support most folks more than a few years.
All of your information is wrong.
What kind of college grad makes 100k right out of school??
Yes. Down payment on a house
I do. The home I’m looking at cost $300k. I don’t need anything big and too fancy.
yes holy shit
