– Research the company values and culture to tailor your responses
– Practice writing a sample letter ahead of time to ease the nerves
– Take a deep breath and remember, this is just one step closer to finding the right fit for you

they have nothing better to do it seems
I got one even better. I applied for a part time dishwashing job at a local hotel. I submitted my application and they emailed me back with the process. I could not believe it. They wanted skill tests, drug tests, background search, prior experience, and multiple interviews. Again, this is for a freaking part time dish washing job for a hotel that barely survived the pandemic. In fact, the hiring manager told me the resturant inside is doing so bad that they do not even serve lunch.
And no, my years of dish washing for a resturant was not good enough for them.
It is absolutely ridiculous. This is the epitome of, we can ask someone to do this so we will. Total power trip.
I’m sorry that’s ridiculous. Good luck!
Fck off, don’t do it.
Ya these guys don’t know what they want. It’s ridiculous because they know they can’t get away with this bull shit. Keep going buddy. Don’t stop 🛑 you will find something that fits you
Be ready to be ghosted as well. 😉
Withdraw your candidacy and tell them this is why. You have a job, so it’s not like you absolutely have to put up with this bullshit. And even if I was unemployed, I still would nope the fuck out of this shit.
Unless the salary is top dollar, I would not even consider moving forward with it
A letter to who??? The pope???
Don’t do it, imagine what you’ll be required to do on the job. I know they are not paying enough to justify this interview process.
Someone at this company needs to write a letter but they dont want to. Hence you.
That’s too
much, either you want me based off of the convo we had and my resume or YOU DONT
If you’re annoyed before the interview starts, don’t waste your time, just decline the interview and move on to the next one.
This is horseshit, they will interview you from the outside, hire the relative from the inside that they were going to hire from the start, but meet their quota for outside interviews.
If the interview is like that I can’t imagine how fun working for them will be
for admin assistant, yeah that’s too much.
Absurd. I am scared as hell to enter the job market because I have heard many stories like this. I feel like not only is it impossible to keep up with the prices of things, its equally impossible to land a new job. What the actual fuck.
These are getting absolutely ridiculous. People need jobs. This jumping through hoops shit is annoying. Also, why are these hiring managers taking their time??? I had an interview almost 2 weeks ago and they said they needed someone asap. It was me and one other candidate. ONE!!! I’m about to lose my home. I needed a job yesterday. This is absolute crap. Everything is becoming a luxury. Homes, food, and now jobs??? I’m at a loss.
Me personally, I’d show up just to lead them on and waste their time. Put 3 words on the paper (you’re fucking morons) and leave.
Easy solution. Skip the BS and withdrawal your application.
They are already showing you that they micromanage, didn’t know WTF they are doing and expect the world for very little in return.
Run from these people.
I could understand a typing test and asking you to write a letter. Some AAs have to write letters and general correspondence for their boss. They want to make sure you can correctly compose one. But the questionnaire sounds strange. I did apply for a government position that had me take a test asking all kinds of ” what would you do in this situation “questions. And this was over 20 years ago. Any clerical position I tried for always asked for a typing test. But 3 interviews seems excessive.
For admin assistant? Thats too much. Im an executive assistant and in the legal department. I have never been asked to do writing samples.
I had almost the exact same thing happen to me a few years back. Interviewed over the phone for an admin assistant/receptionist position, then another phone interview the next day with someone else, then had to do an in-person interview where they asked the *exact* same questions as the second phone interview. Identical, even in the same order.
At the end of the in-person interview they then told me that it wasn’t actually a permanent position as the listing stated but temp-to hire through a temp agency. “That’s not what the listing says. I wouldn’t have applied had I known. I need something permanent. You should put that in the listing.” “Oh… well that’s how we always do it.”
They emailed me the next day asking me to come in one morning to do a “trial run”. At that point I was so pissed off I emailed back telling them how absolutely ridiculous they were being with the temp agency nonsense *alone*, and that no, I wouldn’t be doing a “trial run” for a fucking *receptionist position* and wasting PTO at my current job because they needed someone to cover the phones for a few hours. They’d wasted SO MUCH of my time. Shockingly, I kept seeing the same job listed over and over again for months.
Unfortunately most jobs are like this now. 🤦🏻♂️
It’s the lousy economy and dying job market. Dance monkey, dance is their revenge for Quiet Quitting.
Same. I had an interview at a school for attendance clerk, where I had to address a letter to the teachers about turning in time cards for student roll call on time. Then I had the interview right after. Panel of 7. Told me I did great m. Then i was told they didn’t have enough time to train me. To me, that’s laziness on their part. They hired an internal the next morning. What a waste on my time. I was networking too. This was the third time the school did this to me. They promote the job to the public, but then end up hiring an internal the next day.
Writing a letter is a common admin assistant job.
Testing your abilities for it is completely normal.
