Hey there! So, it sounds like you’re in a bit of a tough spot at work right now. It can be really stressful to feel like you might be on the verge of getting fired, especially when you’re just starting out in your career. Here are a few things to consider:
– Communication is key: Have an honest and open conversation with your manager about your concerns and ask for feedback on how you can improve.
– Reflect on your actions: Take some time to think about the issues that have been brought up and consider how you can address them moving forward.
– Update your resume: It’s always a good idea to have your resume ready, just in case things don’t work out at your current job.
– Seek mentorship: Look for someone in your industry who can provide guidance and support as you navigate this challenging situation.
Remember, setbacks can often lead to growth and new opportunities. Hang in there and keep pushing forward! 🌟#StayPositive #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalAdvice
What comments did you make?
You should probably take a step back and ask yourself why these basic issues around professionalism compounded to the point where you are going to get let go.
Reaching out to colleagues with whom you are on good terms and asking for a positive recommendation if it comes to it in a job hunt will be useful. Can wait until after you are investigated though.
The other advice could be linked to other matters though – you say that you are a troubled performer with a poor work ethic, you bring prohibited items to work, and you are trash talking your firm in public and not anonymously, badly enough that people are talking about you. If those things are true, learn from them and take a hard look at your attitude and relationship to work before looking for the next role – and don’t swing a knife from your belt in any corporate job.
why the hell are you openly bringing a knife to an office lmao
Real talk, you’re on suspension and they’re investigating something. You did mess up and second chances are few and far between when you’re at this stage, you will most likely be fired because HR in these firms really really likes to stay busy and justify their positions.
That said, if I were you I’d resign immediately because if not they’re going to put something unsavory on your U5 which already might be the case since you’ve been on paid suspension for 2 weeks. If you get a termination on your U5 right now you will not recover.
If you’re pretty sure you’re about to get fired why don’t you just resign?
Also, this isn’t 1970 don’t bring any type of weapon to the office no matter the sentimental value.
It’s makes you an easy target 🎯
I’d start working on your resume and if you don’t have 3-6 months of living expenses in an emergency fund situation, I’d start applying to ANY job so you can replace part of your income. Getting another finance job isn’t going to be easy in this job market on top of your U5 potentially showing a termination. Many very qualified people on this sub are struggling with employment within the industry. Might have to humble yourself to temporarily doing something for the interim. Best of luck.
Man I rlt don’t get why a Swiss army knife is a like death threat you must be insanely weak to even feel threatened but something like that lll
Being late isn’t even remotely factoring into any of this. The main focus is being reported for your comments and likely your knife (although I almost think the knife alone wouldn’t be an issue that requires termination). Generally if you’re on paid leave it means no determination was made – however if you’re being accused of something you typically should have time to explain your side of the story. Have they told you to not contact anyone at work?
Also never make actually friends with work colleagues you’d never know who’s gonna double cross more so because because it’s finance. Don’t go out for drinks if you do go with non alcohol. Ppl are strangely vindictive over here
Okay so what comments did you make that:
– could be construed as racist?
– could be construed as sexist?
– could be construed as flirtatious/just a joke/or sexual harassment.
Is there a woman at work you have a crush on?
Reading between the lines here it sounds like you’ve probably screwed up in a lot of ways. Does your firm h ave a dress code? If so, I can’t imagine any form of business or business casual attire that would work with a swiss army knife (what??).
By the way, assuming you work in a right to work state, your firm doesn’t owe you an explanation for firing you. The conversation about firing you is a notification and clarity about next steps. There is really no benefit to them to give you a clear understanding of exactly.
Just the small bit about bringing the knife in and others knowing tells me that you’ve been missing social cues and likely haven’t meshed well with the firm culture.
It’s likely they’re trying to find reasons to push you out and remove liability on their end.
You need to quit RIGHT NOW. If they terminate you, this will go on your U5. Good luck EVER getting a job with a blemished U5 after you have been termed. I’m telling you, QUIT, RESIGN! A voluntary leave won’t mess up your U5. But if they fire you, I’m telling you, you probably won’t get hired ever again in this industry. Also, don’t be fucking late and NEVER wear a picket knife tool kit. Have some common sense for the love of god! It absolutely flabbergasts me you were wearing this!!!
Which was harder the 7 or 66?
