Are you wondering why your friend’s employer in Ohio asked him not to come in on Monday and instructed him to wait for a call from HR, only to dodge his calls when he tries to follow up? Dive into the details to understand if there may be any shady practices at play.
>We just can’t understand why HR would dodge his calls.Â
Because they aren’t ready to talk to him until Monday. Wasn’t he already told to wait until Monday? Calling over and over isn’t going to help him.
It sounds to me like he has been accused of something and they are investigating. It could be literally anything – theft, sexual harassment, some conflict with another employee, etc. but that is just my opinion based off my own 20 years in HR.
Your friend needs to wait for call from HR. And he might spend the weekend brushing up his resume unfortunately.
There’s some missing information here – perhaps your friend isn’t telling you everything. An incident triggered what sounds like a suspension and your friend’s employer is trying to come up with a plan or solution.
If he’s unpaid, he needs to file for unemployment. OH still has a week waiting period I believe, so he should take this week’s opportunity to file and burn his week in the event he is terminated at a later time.
With a cleaning company, one has to assume there was a complaint from a customer that is being investigated. These things take time.
It sounds like your friend isn’t telling you everything. In either case, they likely do not have a job anyone. They can either file for unemployment or start looking for another job.
