#JobStress #CareerAdvice #QuittingWithoutNewJob
Hey everyone! 👋 Have you ever been in a situation where you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed out at work, but don’t have a new job lined up? 🤔 Well, I’m currently going through that dilemma after being at my current job for 9 months with no end in sight. Here’s a bit of my story:
– Took a job higher than I was ready for after earning my master’s degree
– Lack of feedback and guidance from my boss, causing anxiety
– Feeling like I may be terminated due to probationary period
– Remote job with little connection to colleagues
I’ve been applying to new jobs, but nothing has come through yet. The stress and anxiety are taking a toll on my mental health, and I’m debating whether to stick it out or leave without another job lined up. 😥
Any advice or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! Should I continue to tough it out, or is it okay to prioritize my mental well-being and leave? How can I explain the gap in my resume without hurting my chances of securing a new position? 🤔 Let’s discuss and support each other through this tough decision! 💪
One possible solution could be to start networking with professionals in your industry to gain insights, connections, and potential job opportunities. Utilize online platforms like LinkedIn to connect with like-minded individuals who can offer advice and support during this challenging time. This could lead to potential job leads and help fill any resume gaps. Remember, prioritizing your mental health is essential, and it’s okay to take care of yourself first. Let’s lift each other up and navigate through this together! 💼🌟
You have stress and anxiety about losing your job so you’re going to quit your job?
YMMV, but one of my ‘cardinal’ rules is never, never, never, ever, quit a job without having a new one secured (unless it is an unsafe environment).
Often, the only thing worse than your job is not having a job.
It is typically easier to find a job while you are employed than when you are out of work.
Just my two cents.
Dont quit your job right now the job market is fucking awful
Stick it out until you actually get fired so you can collect unemployment. Also just sounds like you have anxiety
Keep looking I was in a similar situation and stayed until they let me go & now I’m unemployed. If they terminate then they will. Would you get unemployment if you quit in your country ?
I was in a similar situation, but was essentially forced to resign due to the circumstances I was in. The toxicity was killing me and I was “done with the job” anyway, but the unemployment nightmare is a different beast to deal with.
This situation forced me to up-skill into a new career and start selling my various skill sets online. Worth it, but the process is very stressful.
Don’t quit without another job.
Yeah I couldn’t do weekly meetings…that’s super annoying lol
You don’t really address the causes of your stress beyond some noncommunication / insufficient communication from your boss. You’ve lasted nine months without getting terminated, and if they thought you were not up to it, they would have let you go after six months. So, with no data to go on, it strikes me that you are creating unnecessary stress out of nothing concrete, nothing tangible, with your doubts about your inherent abilities overwhelming you. You sound like you are self-sabotaging.
What I would ask you is are you getting your projects done? Are they on time? Are you keeping up with your colleagues now that you have got a lay of the land? Are you able to juggle? Has management communicated dissatisfaction with your work product? If things are going okay, then there is no real reason to leave – yet.
You will experience many different communications styles from bosses, and clearly you want a mentor type, which your current boss is not. So, if I were you, I’d stay where I was, keep my nose down, and look until I found an environment that more closely matches my own particular needs. Good luck.
