Β #CareerDilemma #ProfessionalCricket #PassionVsCareer
Hey everyone,
So, I’ve got a bit of a dilemma on my hands and I could really use some advice π€. I’m a 23-year-old guy currently working in a comfortable MNC job in India, pulling in a decent 50k per month salary. However, my heart is pulling me back towards my first love – Cricket π.
Here’s a little background: I used to play professional cricket when I was 17-19 years old, but I had to step back because of the corrupt selection process demanding money to move up to the national level. But now, I feel like I’m at a crossroads and I’m not sure whether to follow my passion for cricket or stick with my current job.
So, here’s where I need your help! Should I take the leap and pursue professional cricket at this age? Or should I focus on advancing further in my corporate career?
Here’s what I’m thinking as a possible solution:
β’ Research opportunities in cricket leagues or local teams
β’ Consider part-time cricket options while keeping your job
β’ Talk to professionals who have transitioned from corporate to sports to get advice
Let me know what you think! Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! ππ»π
NO
Is the boring corporate job you hate always going to be there? Yep, probably.
Will you be able to play ball as you age? Nope. Definitely not.
What do you have to lose except a job you hate? Failure just means coming back and working in shitty jobs.
A jobβs core role isnβt really to provide you happiness and joy – youβre paid to do your job because the company knows you wouldnβt do it otherwise. A job provides you the monetary support you need to fund your lifestyle. So if you have a solid job, then use that to do things that bring you happiness and joy in other parts of your non-working life. (And maybe if the night shift makes that hard, see if you can find other jobs with more reasonable local hours, or see if you could transfer to a different location with your MNC)
Playing cricket in your non-working time is a great idea. Trying to make cricket your career is an epically bad idea.
Go for the cricket. Only young once. Be a worker slave after.
