I think certs mean what you make them mean. As in if you are seeking outside opportunities and have noticed they are listed as a preferred qual then yes. If you just want it for yourself then yes. If none of those things apply and your job isn’t pushing for it then no. It’s a piece of paper you wield for your own purposes.
Not really. I got mine and never renewed it. Nobody asks or cares and I’m a manager
It didnt make a difference in my own experience
20+ years in HR, and of my coworkers, about 20% of my colleagues had PHR or SPHR certs. When I think of my HR leaders, I don’t think any of them had them. Not saying the certs that careers of course, but it wasn’t a factor in the growth into leadership roles.
I think the cert doesn’t hurt and helps you stand out. When recruiting HR professionals, it means more to me than an mba.
Not saying you need an SPHR, just a cert in general.
i think other certifications or courses might be more useful. SPHR feels outdated for tech/startups.
Honestly irrelevant for tech companies, especially in SF. SHRM is a joke, IMO.
