StrugglingWithJobSearch #NeedHelpFindingJob #JobMarketStruggles
🌟 Hey there! I totally understand your frustration with the job market and how the news seems to paint a different picture. It can be really tough out there, but don’t worry, I’ve got some tips that might help you navigate through this challenging time.
Understanding the Job Market Reality
The job market can be competitive, especially during uncertain times like these. It’s important to remember that the news often provides a broad overview of the economy and may not always reflect the reality of job seekers like yourself.
Tips for Finding a Job
Here are some actionable steps you can take to improve your job search:
- Update your resume: Make sure your resume is up to date and tailored to the specific job you’re applying for.
- Network: Reach out to friends, family, and professional contacts to see if they know of any job opportunities.
- Utilize online job boards: Websites like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor can be great resources for finding job openings.
- Consider freelance or contract work: Sometimes temporary work can lead to full-time opportunities.
- Don’t give up: Job searching can be disheartening, but persistence is key. Keep applying and networking, and eventually, you’ll find the right opportunity.
Educating Your Family and Friends
It might be helpful to have an honest conversation with your family and friends about the challenges of the current job market. Share with them the realities of job searching and the factors that may be affecting your ability to find a job.
Conclusion
Remember, you’re not alone in this struggle. Many people are facing similar challenges in the job market. Stay positive, keep networking, and don’t be afraid to ask for help and support along the way. You’ll find the right opportunity for you eventually. Good luck! 🌟
Yeah, my friends and family can’t understand either.
The news is now just another arm of the government. You have to go to social media to get the real picture.
Unfortunately everything is it being an election year so reality is being extra distorted right now.
> the economy’s great (for the rich) so many jobs (that don’t pay enough to survive)!!
FTFY
They’ve been talking about newer graduates struggling to find employment as well as the outrageous requirements employers have put for these jobs.
To be fair, I’ve been seeing news articles from sites like NY Times and Bloomberg that discuss how new graduates, especially those without work experience, are more likely to be unemployed. Plus, I recall Fox Business Report mentioning a decline in new job creation in Apr compared to previous months while I was watching TV.
But yeah, a lot of those positive job reports are related to side gigs; part-time, no benefit jobs; and full-time jobs that don’t require a BA Degree for BA Degree holders (i.e., they don’t factor in underemployment).
Yep. It’s extra depressing to see constant news about how great the economy is and record profits. Meanwhile even though I technically have a job I’m only getting a few hours a week at most. My CC is almost maxed out simply from groceries. I went from making almost $1,000 a month to about $100-200.
The media is providing cover until after the election.
They have to keep the recession under covers til after the election
I’m certain I’ve almost damaged my eyes from rolling them so hard when I see ig posts from the white house regarding jobs and the economy.
It’s all so tiresome.
jobs that no one wants LOL
yeah, on the news it’s “everyone’s hiring! so many jobs are open.” and my dad is seeing hiring signs all over the place.. it’s all retail. Under paying retail. Not guaranteed even with degree right now.
a)The job market is really complex, you can often find enough data to say the market is doing great and that the market is doing badly depending on what story you want to tell. Even with good intentions, it’s easy to get influenced by personal biases.
b) You, just like the news, are also prone to have your judgement clouded by personal biases. I don’t know the current state of the american job market (assuming you are american because you are assuming everyone knows what market you are talking about) and i don’t know what the news are saying, but it’s absolutely possible that the your reality and the people around you may not be representative of the market as a whole. The thing with globalizationg is that if 0.01% of the people like you, it’s a ton of people.
It’s part time jobs that have been added that’s what they’re reporting on. It has no relation to reality as evident by the rampant lay offs and ghost job postings on LinkedIn. Jobs are there for years to showcase the company growing with no intention to fill those positions.
They are covering it dude. Just google “white collar recession” and there are lots of articles
Do your skills match the current needs of the economy? It can be a great market and people can still struggle. It can be a terrible market and people can still succeed. It isn’t a true cause and effect situation at the macro level
if you live in Canada, the news pretty much doesnt shut up about it I find lol
I live in Toronto and the unemployment rate rose to 8% recently and before then there was tons of stories of people lining up for job fairs at low skill jobs, tech layoffs and the constant stories about middle class people going to food banks and struggling
Your post is spot-on and bittersweet. I’m a seasoned IT professional, and I thought I was alone in thinking the same thing. Lately, I feel like a loser, especially when the jobs and unemployment report is released.
Friends and family also scratching their heads with (that look) – “Why can’t you get a job, the economy is doing great, jobs are strong, and unemployment is down?”
Although, ageism could be my problem; retirement is about 10 years out, and if I remain unemployed for much longer, then it’ll be 15 years.
Best to all!
Its the advertisers. They are all about buying a new car or trying that restaurant or just basically spending, spending, spending. Hearing that you ought to cut that is a no-no.
And yes, its a bit of politics. Those who are in power want you to believe everything is awesome.
It’s almost as if they’re purposefully choosing not to share bad news about the job market
biden is killing the reg working class folks
They gotta please the shareholders. It is one of the ways to ensure that the shareholders get their shares. They gotta keep the morale of shareholders up. I bet the positive economy news is a kink that turns quite a few of the shareholders on.
