Have you noticed the fake and toxic environment on Linkedin?
Are you seeing people post misleading content to impress companies like Meta and Microsoft?
Do you think Linkedin has become a giant circle jerk of corporate behavior?
#LinkedinSnobs #FakePosts #ToxicEnvironment #CorporateCulture #MetaMicrosoft #ProfessionalNetworking
It’s a forum of insecurity, virtue signaling and imposter syndrome
It’s largely wading through capitalism porn to try and find a job
Everyone thinks they deserve to do a TED talk.
It is definitely cringe.
Worst are those “influencers” with mare 2 or 3 years experience at big tech. Just because of having big tech under their belt, they post any garbage and people vote it making their poop pop up, rather any worthy stuff.
“Almost”
It’s definitely just a corporate circlejerk. I hate it, but it’s helped me get a new job quickly (longest was 2 months, this last time only three weeks) after layoffs three times now, so unfortunately I find it to be a necessary evil.
It’s people who want to be “influencers” but don’t have the dance skills for TikTok.
I found 2 of my jobs on LinkedIn.
I think you misspelled “knob” mate. Everyone knows how fake it is. Which is why it’s not a good idea to engage with it… except for entertainment purposes.
Like anything else, you gotta use it for what it’s good at, and not for what it’s not good at.
Ignore all the ads and spam and virtue signaling and posts that should honestly be on facebook.
I just use it as basically an online resume, and to message people in my professional circle that I don’t have other contact info for. Or if they switched companies and the email/phone I have doesn’t work anymore. It’s really good for that.
Because I have a few thousands followers and I re-post other people memes
Everyone is successful on Linkedin.
Everyone is sexy on Instagram.
Just like the influencers on Insta who are absolutely dumb and hollow and sell themselves on OF, the people of Linkedin sell 1:1 consulting hours on topmate and DSA content.
It’s a strange place indeed that I have come to the conclusion provides no value to 95% of the people that use it. I logged in the other day and there was a guy promoting a song about his dog, a guy trying to be a thought leader by talking about the menopause and an endless circle jerk of narcissism dressed up as empowerment.
It’s because social media platforms in general invoke this kind of superficiality.
LI is really it’s own hell since it’s white collar circle jerking.
I am thrilled to announce that I am better than you.
I deleted it for this reason. Maybe it’ll hurt my employment opportunities slightly but at least I can tell people if they ask for my LinkedIn that I deleted it because it’s full of BS circle jerking narcissistic tool bags and usually they agree and respect me more for it. I probably get more respect for being anti social media than by bragging about my accomplishments on it.
I don’t spend much time on LinkedIn, but if that’s what you are seeing, it’s your network. Get rid of or mute all the recruiters.
The sooner you realize everyone there is selling something, (sometimes just themselves) the better.
I don’t think it’s snob, to me it looks like people groveling for a job, which is sad because some people feel forced to do it because they need to provide for them/their families while there are people who are doing it for the love of the game.
I use LI to source for my roles, I hire a LOT of people from there. But if I see someone has a load of posts and trying to be an influencer I move on, they aren’t worth the hassle.
snob is such a generous word choice.
I dont post on LinkedIn. I use it strictly as an online resume and for job hunting. The social media aspect of the site is cringe, like every other social media platform. It’s all just garbage.
Worse. It’s a social media platform where you beg for existence from capitalism.
Just saw an Indian who worked at Microsoft for like 1 year, quit his job, and now selling courses on how to ‘crack’ big tech coding interviews. Such a 🤡
I hate LinkedIn. They turned a networking tool into a ‘business Facebook’
THANK YOU!!! I said to my CEO last week it’s chock full snobby that love themselves WAAAAYYYY too much. Basically, what I see on LI “Oeee!! Looks at me!! I did a thing/I hired an overqualified/old/under qualified/mentally handicapped person! And it turned out soooo great. Now praise me for I am awesome.” LinkenIn is mostly filled with self centred obnoxious assholes in my personal opinion.
it’s god awful.
It’s so weird
My biggest goal in life is to start my own or buy a small biz so I can delete LinkedIn and throw away my resume permanently
Had someone change their title thanking their former employer for the opportunity right after laying them off. Like holy cow.
Thanking a corp for canning you is super cuck.
i’m an aspiring web developer + digital marketer.
i’ve made a linkedin account in college, but i quickly strayed from it because the people seemed so… uppity… especially the engineers (seasoned and aspiring).
they’re always posting how “all you have to do is *this*”, “all you have to do is *that*” and “all i did was *this*”. to me, it comes off as condescending and discouraging. i used to always compare my journey to others and getting off of linkedin made me realize i’d be better off taking my time learning and building. i’m in no rush to get into the field, especially because the market is hella flimsy.
a lot of the content seems so copy/paste or fabricated to make recruiting and interview processes seem as if it went one way when it really went another.
now, i’m in a digital marketing program that requires me to have a linkedin account and be active on it. i feel the same way about linkedin–even more now than i did back in college. the members within my program mass post every little move they make.
the tones of their posts do not sound genuine; more fake and forced with all those exclamations and shit. and i hate when they bomb me with connect requests.
but i’m sucking it up because it may become helpful for future roles. i’m only active when i need to be. i don’t just scroll for fun.
On LinkedIn :
I am honored and humbled to be part of this amazing journey of learning and applying the principles of the PMBOK to our organization while at the same time creating value to our shareholders with visibility and resilience
Agree?
At the office:
Can you repeat the question? I wasn’t paying attention because you’re not relevant enough for me. I haven’t even read your email. I have a meeting with someone more important than you.
Real story. Look her up. Same name as Bullock + a famous Uruguayan writer.
My form of protest was deactivating LinkedIn. I refuse to read bs all day from people who only find importance from a job title. It used to be a great platform to find jobs, not anymore.
LinkedIn is Facebook for the unemployed.
It’s exactly that: a giant corp circle jerk.
The only attention you get are cold sale emails.
You are told to reach out to hiring managers on linkedIn to get a better chance at a job opening; bs, they don’t respond, they don’t care.
LinkedIn is cringe and trashy as fuck.
I hate how I get so many random msgs containing sales pitch for services also. Like yes, that is my title, but I have no decision power.
Deleted m Account a few month ago. It’s a fucking farce.
And that is exactly what it is. LinkedIn is a paradise for liars, asskissers and complete fakes.
