Hey neighbors, I need your advice on a sticky situation we’re dealing with right now. 😞
So, long story short, we’ve been dealing with some serious harassment from a kid across the street who has doxxed us and made false claims about us online. The worst part? The police aren’t taking it seriously at all! 🚔
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been happening:
– Neighbor’s dogs bark constantly, I yelled out of frustration 🐶
– Doxxing incidents targeting me and my wife 😱
– Police dismiss the situation as “kid being a kid” 🤦♂️
– False claims about me building bombs in the garage 💣
– Kid even threw fireworks at our neighbor’s front door, falsely blaming us 🧨
We’re at our wits’ end with this situation. We’ve tried talking to the police, but they’re not helping. 😔
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this type of harassment? Any legal options or community resources we can turn to for help? We feel completely helpless and just want to put an end to this nightmare. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
Let’s brainstorm some solutions together, and hopefully, we can find a way to deal with this troubling situation. Thanks in advance for your input! 💬🤔
Where are you located? Laws are different all over. Doxxing isn’t illegal in most places.
How old is the child, laws for kids based on age are also different all over.
I think you may want to contact the FBI in your region. Mention what is going on since there are thing they deal with, as in Internet crimes. Also, let them know of the threats and incidents.
NAL but maybe a letter from a lawyer to the mother’s firm raising suspicion that the kid is accessing info from her computer might at least scare them
Not a lawyer, but both a paramedic who works for a 911 system as well as someone who’s experienced harassment like this. Your local emergency communications office should have a way to flag your address if you are experiencing this so that they can contact you before sending a full response.
I had to flag my house in Memphis for the same reason when I lived there. Law enforcement would call me on my personal phone if they received a report or a welfare check call on my residence.
Doxxing is illegal in California. Penal code 653.2. Go to the police and be persistent
Consider filing a PINS (person in need of supervision, might be called something else in CA) petition in the family court for your jurisdiction.
Do you have a state police? Call them. They usually have statewide jurisdiction and take these things more seriously. Also maybe a call to the FBI.
File a lawsuit, that’ll get their attention.
The local police might not do anything, but making false claims about building bombs might just be of interest to your local FBI or ATF office.
Talk to a lawyer.
Aside from the already mentioned crimes of swatting and violating data privacy, where I live this is considered a form of stalking and harassment. Both illegal. Please get some solid legal advice and press charges.
I mean, it might sound awful, but OP can’t prove it is the kid. He might have to press charges specifically against the mom and let the police investigate, once the proof is on the son, press charges that way.
