Understanding the Situation
If you find yourself in a situation where a car insurance claim has been made against you with video proof refuting the claim, it can be quite concerning. However, it’s essential to stay calm and collected throughout the process.
Gathering Evidence
In a scenario where another driver claims you damaged their vehicle, it’s crucial to gather as much evidence as possible. Take photos of both cars, any surrounding damages, and the location where the incident occurred. In this case, having a witness with a dash cam can be a game-changer.
Navigating the Insurance Claim Process
The next step involves contacting your insurance company to report the incident. Provide them with all the evidence you have collected, including the video footage that refutes the claim made against you. Be prepared to present your case clearly and confidently.
Adding Your Side of the Story
While the claim department may initially be closed, make sure to contact them first thing in the morning to provide your version of events. Explain the situation, present the evidence you have gathered, and emphasize that the video clearly shows you did not make contact with the other vehicle.
Remaining Calm and Patient
It’s natural to feel frustrated or anxious when faced with a car insurance claim against you. However, it’s essential to remain calm and patient throughout the process. Trust that the evidence you have will speak for itself and support your case.
In conclusion, when dealing with a car insurance claim against you with video proof refuting the claim, it’s crucial to gather evidence, navigate the insurance claim process, present your side of the story, and remain calm and patient. By following these steps, you can effectively refute the claim and protect your interests. Remember, the truth will always prevail in the end. 🚗💼
I would think this is a likely scam, and the person claiming you caused the scratch wanted you to panic and offer them cash not to file a claim.
And probably filed a claim still hoping for the same result that you’d offer to settle bypassing your insurance.
When your insurance adjuster calls you, share your evidence, they’ll have the claim denied and closed by the end of the business day.
I had a person claim one time that I put a 1/2 pinky-nail-sized scratch on their rear bumper when I parallel parked behind them. They came into a restaurant I was eating in and pulled me out to show me. There was no mark on my vehicle and there was no indication that I had hit theirs, no dust missing from a bump or scrape, just a little chip in the paint she claimed I did. I gave her my info and took photos of everything to avoid a police report. Claims agent took a look at my photos and sided with me, and I did not even have a dash cam at the time. You’ll likely be fine.
as the above but DO NOT TALK TO THE OTHER DRIVERS INSURANCE. if they call you just tell them to call your insurance. don’t tell them you have video or anything..
Make sure to get a copy of that video that shows you did not cause that damage. Then when your insurance company contacts you about the man’s claim, tell them you have a video that shows you did not cause the damage. They’ll want a copy of the video and you should provide it to them.
Just deny it. Your insurance company will do EVERYTHING IT CAN to not pay the claim. They are on your side.
