#WrongNumber #FunnyResponse #TextMessageFail
📱Insist on repeatedly texting the wrong number? Eventually you won’t like my response. 🤷♂️
We’ve all experienced the frustration of receiving a text intended for someone else. Most of the time, it’s a simple mistake that can be easily corrected. But what happens when someone repeatedly texts the wrong number, despite being informed of their mistake?
In this post, we’ll share a humorous and slightly outrageous story of a persistent wrong number texter and how the recipient decided to handle the situation. So sit back, relax, and prepare to be entertained as we dive into this amusing tale!
The Wrong Number Saga: A Story of Perseverance
It all began innocently enough – a series of texts from a stranger inquiring about the well-being of their horse. The recipient, a private individual with a knack for encountering odd situations, found themselves on the receiving end of these curious messages. Let’s break down the sequence of events to get a better understanding of the situation.
The Initial Texts: A Curious Case of Mistaken Identity
During a vacation holiday, the recipient received a text from an unknown number in the middle of the night. The message, inquiring about the condition of a horse, immediately raised eyebrows. After politely responding and informing the sender of the wrong number, the issue seemed to be resolved. However, this was just the beginning of a recurring theme.
Despite the initial correction, the same individual continued to text the wrong number on subsequent vacation holidays. This cycle repeated itself 5 times over the course of 12-18 months, always at the most inconvenient times. The content of the messages remained consistent – inquiries about the well-being of their horse.
The Breaking Point: A Playful Response
After the fourth instance of receiving the same wrong number texts, the recipient decided to take a more proactive approach. Instead of simply dismissing the messages, they politely questioned the sender about their failure to update the correct number in their contacts. The response was promising – the sender assured them that the mistake would be rectified immediately.
However, true to the recurring nature of the situation, the sender reached out once again a few months later. This time, the recipient decided to have a little fun with the exchange. In a playful and slightly exaggerated response, they claimed that the horse was not doing well and hinted at a rather dramatic resolution. Unsurprisingly, this marked the end of the persistent wrong number texts. The sender, apparently realizing their mistake, never reached out again.
The Aftermath: An Annoying Yet Amusing Resolution
In reflecting on the strange experience, the recipient made it clear that they were simply looking to have a bit of fun with the situation. Their love for animals was evident, and the response was crafted more out of annoyance than genuine malice. While the sender may have been taken aback by the unexpected reply, it ultimately put an end to the repeated wrong number texts.
Lessons Learned: How to Handle Wrong Number Texts
Now that we’ve delved into this peculiar story, let’s distill some key takeaways from this experience. Whether you’ve been on the receiving end of persistent wrong number texts or simply want to be prepared for such a scenario, these insights can be helpful in navigating similar situations.
1. ‣ Patience is Key: While it can be frustrating to deal with repeated wrong number texts, maintaining a level head is important. A polite and patient response can go a long way in resolving the issue.
2. ‣ Humor Can Diffuse Tension: In some cases, injecting a bit of humor into your responses can help diffuse any tension or annoyance stemming from wrong number texts. Just remember to tread carefully and avoid causing unnecessary distress.
3. ‣ Blocking Is a Viable Option: If wrong number texts become too frequent or bothersome, don’t hesitate to block the offending number. Your peace of mind is worth prioritizing.
4. ‣ Reflect on the Situation: After the dust settles, take a moment to reflect on the experience. It may provide valuable insights or simply serve as a humorous anecdote to share with friends and family.
Conclusion: A Unique Encounter with a Persistent Texter

And who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to craft your own witty response the next time you encounter a persistent wrong number texter!
I like your sense of humour 🙂
I am an animal lover, and I approve this message.
It was too much trouble for him to bother programming in the correct number…until you gave him a scare. If you had continued to be polite, you would still probably be getting overnight texts!
I do this with my kids, only my scare is “Since you forgot to empty the dishwasher, which means no one was able to load their dirty dishes, you are doing dishes tonight.” Works like a charm to help him remember to empty it!
Your horse’s dead, sod off!
I would’ve just said you had four chances with me being nice, and you blew them.
Apparently, I DID have to be so mean about it.
Well played! You are more patient than I am. I would have done something similar, but on the second time the guy texted me.
this was funny and resolved the issue without anyone being harmed. If he didn’t send multiple wrong texts that would have been mean, this was just deserved.
I love how you turned the tables in a clever way!
That’s what happens when someone can’t take the 90 seconds or less to fix the number but instead is okay with REPEATEDLY text the wrong number at some ungodly hour.
It certainly got your point across seeing as the issue stopped.
This is so weird, this same thing happened to me. Except I got the message from the stranger once asking about his horse, almost word for word to your instance. But I decided to have fun with it immediately and told the person that we had to send him to Dr. Elmer. No text back after that.
I wonder if this is some kind of scam they’re pulling somehow or if that many horse owners are bad at texting….
I am a horse owner, and I approve this message.
I legitimately care about my horse, therefore I know the correct number for his caretaker.
When my kids were all still at home, I’d send a reminder mass blast text to all six of them reminding them that I work in the morning and not to park their cars behind mine.
If someone failed in that, I would wake them to move their car.
The kicker is that I usually had to be at work at 5am. Nearly an hour’s drive away.
So, I’d wake them, the way the DI’s used to wake me in boot camp. At 4AM.
Rarely did the same kid park behind me again.
I would have just blocked the number after the second incident
Had a very similar story that I posted about several years ago:
Way back in the day when I was 15, I got my first cell phone and I was very excited. It was one of those indestructible Nokia brick phones but, I digress.
One of the very first calls I received was for a wrong number – Frank’s Auto Body Shop, but I didn’t think anything of it. In fact, given this was my first phone (I had a “My own phone number! Wow!” kind of feeling) I was exceedingly polite in explaining that the caller had regrettably dialed a wrong number and I was very sorry that I didn’t have a forwarding/alternate number for them. Nevertheless, I hope they would have a pleasant day despite this *contre-temps*.
As the days went on, I got more calls for Frank’s Auto Body Shop. By this time, it was clear that this Frank fellow was the prior user for my number and when I got my phone, that number had been re-assigned to me. I was vexed that he wasn’t following “proper phone etiquette” (what in my naive youth I imagined was a codified set of rules somewhere about how to behave on all phone-related matters; the same notion that made me overly polite earlier on) and decided to do something about it.
Now, instead of informing the caller that they had the wrong number, I started taking appointments for Frank. I’d start double and triple booking people and promising unrealistic service. “Yes sir, you can drop your car off before the shop opens, I’m in at 5am this morning anyway! Just leave the keys in the glove box! It’ll be ready by 8:30!”
But the calls kept coming and I upped my game.
I started giving estimates and quotes for work. I’d never give an “estimate” that would immediately seem too good to be true, but just a REALLY good price instead, at least based on the quick research I did for my new gig as a mechanic. Front brakes? $275 when it was more like $400 (back in the day). You need some body work done? “Sure, that should be around $1400!” (but really closer to $2000). “Yeah, I can have that part shipped in for you – no extra charge!”
On and on it went for a week or so, then suddenly the calls stopped. I wonder why…
**TL;DR** Young me became a vigilante for “proper phone etiquette” in the guise of a mechanic named Frank.
You could text them a picture from the horse head scene in _The Godfather_ …😈
I love a sick as fuck, dark humor in a person.
Well, done.
As someone who works in the equine industry, I would like to do this with a couple clients just for shits and giggles.
Horse people are the worst. They will text you day or night to make sure their horse is “ok”. Like dude. If it wasn’t, you would have already gotten a call from me.
This is will forever be my response when some asks if their darling child of a horse is ok.
Someone accidentally gave my number to their doctor’s office so I started getting calls to confirm appointments every other month or so… because these were recordings I could tell them it was a wrong number. So I was nice and confirmed their appointments, but after a year I got fed up and started cancelling them. Those calls ended after the first few cancellations. Totally justified in your response and I applaud you for it.
Save their number. Randomly text them info about glue sales.
Old Yeller style, lol
Many years ago, back when printed phone books were the norm, my home number was accidentally listed as belonging to a local judge. I worked pizza delivery until close (3:30 am) and was often in the shop until 4 am. The phone calls generally started around 7:30 am, asking for Judge Whatshisface.
I was cool about it at first. I found the real number (digit off from mine) and passed it along. But this wasn’t a once in a while deal, it was every day, multiple times a day. I got tired of it quickly. I called the Judge’s office. I told them the calls were interfering with my life. They didn’t care.
So I started telling callers that the judge was dead.
Calls ceased a few days later.
😂 I would’ve said, “Delicious! Thanks!” And nothing else
At least they finally corrected the number in their phone. How does someone do this, that many times and not correct it after the first time
Isn’t it interesting that some people only respond to some communication errors on their part when it becomes as serious as your last text message to them.
Of course they never texted you again, you killed their horse!
I LIVE for this kind of hilarious story
I also have to say, if you’re spending thousands boarding a horse, you’d freaking want the correct number in your dang phone!
Like that’s such laziness right there, SMH.
Brilliant! Perfectly petty revenge! Problem solved.
This is actually an incredibly old chain mail that went around circa the AOL days. I guess it’s new for some people though, but not original.
It’s genuinely the way they couldn’t just double check they had the right number the first or second time. Yeah, you could have blocked the number, but they clearly don’t understand how to take a hint.
>Well I realize now that I texted the wrong number but you don’t have to be mean about it!
>
>And they never texted me again!
Apparently, he did have to be mean about it.
