I don’t think you are pushing your luck. You deserve to be fairly compensated for your efforts regardless of how good or bad the company is doing. You are being asked to take on more responsibility and stress, and that should come with a pay increase. You can always turn down the promotion if the pay raise isn’t enough to justify the extra stress.
They are plugging a hole quickly and will pay you to entice you.
They will use you to cut and fire people, restructure and be there firewall
You will get ulcers from this job
Later you will be let go when all the bad stuff is done and they will bring in someone fresh
Ask for more money. You are doing a larger job. It’s a fair request
Whatever you do, just make sure you write “paid” and not “payed” on any documents you present.
It’s a really bad time in the company so you are going to let them give you no raise to take on a lot more duties and responsibilities? Uh, no. If they cannot afford to pay you to do those duties and responsibilities then they cannot afford to move you into the new position, period. instead of giving you a raise they’re gonna leave you where you are at your current salary AND find someone to replace the manager who, what, will be working for free? Strike while the iron is hot, my friend. Accept no raise now and one will never come even when the company starts doing well again.
