🌟 #JobOffer #NoticePeriodDilemma 🌟
Hey everyone! 🌿 So, I recently got offered a new job with more pay and similar hours, but my current place wants a month’s notice before I leave. The thing is, I am really unhappy where I am currently and it’s affecting my mental health. 😞 Here’s a quick rundown of the situation:
– Just started my job in May
– Offered a new position with better pay but longer commute
– Current boss asked for a month’s notice but I want to leave sooner
– Dealing with stress at work is making my symptoms worse
I’m torn between waiting for an actual start date with the new job or leaving sooner due to my mental health. Should I take the risk and leave now or stick it out until I have a confirmed start date? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated! 🌸
Possible Solution:
– Consider speaking to HR at your current job about your mental health concerns
– Communicate openly with your new employer about your current situation
– Seek guidance from a career counselor or therapist to navigate this challenging decision

wow.. sounds toxic… asking for a month notice when you just start…. I would refuse,,, simply because you’re actually not required to stay more then 2 weeks I believe.. but check employment laws in your city.
also if there is a loot of turn over means they are the problem and the fact your mental health is bad,… if I was you I wouldnt come back… call them and tell them you got really sick .. and never go back.. keep dragging them along, I did that once in a place I worked.
Standard practice is 2 weeks. What’s your current job?
Actually, giving notice is just a courtesy. If you don’t want to show up *tomorrow,* you don’t even have to do that! I mean, you’d be burning bridges, but ‘may the bridges I burn light the way.’ Know what I’m saying?
Notice is up to you and what you feel like. There are no rules and no requirements in the US. If someone wanted to fire you tomorrow before you leave for work, they could and you couldn’t retaliate. If you want to quit tomorrow and not show up, you can. It’s up you and what’s best for your future.
They can’t hold you to a day, leave!
If you don’t have a signed contract. The notice period is up to you. You can give what you want. No need to give them any extra.
Submit your resignation letter with resignation “effective immediately”
They wouldn’t give you advance notice of your termination so … unless you’re going to be putting some people you care about or patients in harms way (if you’re in medical) I would leave, professionally but on your timeline.
You just started in May. It’s not like you need to put this job in your resume. Just go.
giving notice is more of a courtesy thing, you won’t get in legal trouble even if you just stopped showing up to work tomorrow (most countries)
If you don’t show up, they will fire you 😉
Quit once you have the start date
Sign off from the job when you want, set up a start date when you want. Take some time in between for yourself.
Vast majority of states are “at will.” At will, they can fire you or lay you off, for no reason. At will, you can leave anytime, any day, for no reason.
At will is a matter of business to them, while at will is matter of business, career, reputation to you.
You owe nothing. Unless its a contract, outside of that you are at will. They will fire you on the spot or lay you off on the spot.
I always try to give 1 month notice and always have at any job I’ve respected my coworkers and company. Once I worked somewhere for a month that I hated and knew I would never list it or work there again. I submitted my resignation and shut down my computer and left immediately.
Nope. You just tell them when your last day is.
Leave now. They wouldn’t gives you the courtesy of a months notice to fire you. Why would you give them a month? Notice to quit just quit.
OP – next time this happens, do not inform your current job about anything until you have an official job offer in your hand. If the background check or physical falls through for any reason, you could be left without any job at all.
The point of giving them notice is that they have time to hire someone else. Unless you plan on coming back to your current company or expect them to write you a reference then I’d say try to remain within their notice timeframe. If the answer is no for both those things go ahead and give notice once you’ve gotten your start date and the position is secured.
Text your boss tomorrow and say today is my last day you are required to give me all of my vacation and worked pay within 72 hours please make sure it gets done ir I am goinf tot the labor board
No Bro, if your health is getting worse because of this job then don’t suffer a month more of it and just don’t come
Notice is not a requirement but in the future NEVER tell an employer you have a job offer until you have a start date and give the notice if you want to based on the start date
