It is like torture for an animal to have their best friend suddenly disappear and never come back.
They bark, howl, meow, whinny and cry for hours on end because they don’t understand what’s going on.
But by being able to view and sniff the body, they might grieve a little but the most important part is that we *allow them to understand.* Allow them to understand that their friend did not just disappear out of the blue, but that their friend is simply… dead.
And that’s okay.
It’s like explaining to a kid what happens when someone they love passes, and who and why they passed, but with no words are needed.
