Wtf is going on at Staples that their techs don’t know what a pebcak is… I was expecting them to play along!
So there was a ID 10 T error.
I’ve always heard it referred to a PICNIC error- Problem In Chair, Not In Computer.
Why did you need to mention your sister’s tits? Lol
Typical for Layer 8 error.
Extremely well played. I’ve never heard that acronym myself, but it fits the situation perfectly.
Just hit the ANY key
Background, OP. Not “back round.”
I don’t know why though but picturing her face as she watched the cables get swapped around is so much funnier than the thought of the store run.
We called it an UTS error. User too stupid.
We called those “OE 101 issues”
Operator Error 101
PEBCAK… cool band name!
Many years ago (pre 2000) we had a lan party. One guy could not get his sound working and as his was looking for the restore cd to reset his computer his wife (one of the none techie people they suggest to check the connections. It was the same as in the story. The kicker is that most of the people there worked tech support for the company that was the “Face of technology”. We figured that would be the first thing would check.
Go and fetch me the breastplate stretcher!
My colleagues and I often switch between PEBKAC error, ID 10T error, and Layer 8 Violation (OSI 7-Layer model reference). 😁
Background, not back round
I remember sending a short video to my sister of the process for restarting the wifi. It’s just turn off the wifi surge protector, wait ten seconds, and turn it back on.
They are also called id 10 t errors
When a friend of mine was a teenage volunteer at a hospital, someone sent her out to find Fallopian tubes.
This was a long, long time ago.
Ah, yes, “it works better if you plug it in (correctly).”
But sending them to Stapes for PEBCAK software was brilliant!
Lolol that’s just as bad as blinker fluid!
We called them “DEU issues”.
DEU = Defective End User
Sounds like it was a wetware issue.
>Went to the tech helpdesk … 1st tech had no clue and couldn’t find anything searching the staples site … called over 2nd tech who didn’t know what it was either
Ok, maybe helpdesk techs looked dumb, but maybe worst because the distraction of “Blonde Hair, Blue eyes, and “enhanced Saline assets””…
Should have told her to go into Settings and select “Ignore User Error”
Knew someone who bullshit a higher up by fixing his problem – it was unplugged, but he knew that if he said that, the jerk would publicly humiliate him for pointing out his stupidity, even if it was private when he did it. So when the jerk asked. he told him that it had been “an infinite impedance issue” that he had figured out how to circumvent. Then walked away giggling when the guy closed his door.
